Vivienne Jolie-Pitt finds herself once again making headlines, and this time it’s for her outfit and behavior at the weekend’s 2024 Tony Awards.
Being the son or daughter of a major celebrity generally means you’ll be exposed to flashing cameras and pushy journalists from a young age. Being the son or daughter of two major celebrities only serves to exacerbate that.
In any case, the children of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt must be well versed in virtually all areas of the media by now. And yet the court of public opinion isn’t one they’ve perhaps had too much experience with.
Vivienne Jolie-Pitt recently got a small taste of what stepping onto a red carpet can mean with regards to people assessing and dissecting your look, following her appearance alongside her mother at the 77th Tony Awards in New York this past Sunday.
The 15-year-old donned a green suit ensemble for the occasion, and while her choice of outfit was criticized by some as being “not feminine!!”, there were plenty of people online who gushed over just how much she resembles both her mother and father.
And yet there was also plenty said about Vivienne’s demeanor as she stood and posed for photos on the red carpet beside her über-famous mother.
Many seemed to be of the opinion that the teenager looked uncomfortable at the event, while others suggested she wanted to get away from the flashing cameras. 15, it must be said, is a tender age to have to digest such attention, though it could – and likely will – be argued that she knew what she was getting herself into in attending the event.
“Awww, her daughter seems overwhelmed,” one person wrote on Instagram.
“She’s looks absolutely petrified bless her,” another added.
A third stated: “Poor thing looks overstimulated but I applaud her courage. Perhaps she’s facing her fears. ❤️“
“That poor girl looks so uncomfortable and nervous,” said another.
A fifth stated: “She looks so scared poor thing.”
Indeed, in the video posted to Instagram (available here), Vivienne does seem to be nervous before the flashing of a hundred different cameras, but that’s surely to be expected? I can only imagine the internal crisis I’d have suffered if I was forced to parade in front of the paparazzi at 15 years old.
Ultimately, the night was a success for Vivienne and her mother, with Jolie bagging her first Tony for her work as a producer on the musical The Outsiders.
The production took home a total of four awards, including Outstanding Lighting Design, Outstanding Lighting Design of a Musical, Outstanding Sound Design of a Musical, and Best Direction of a Musical. 15-year-old Vivienne, meanwhile, earned recognition as a producer’s assistant for the musical.
