Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan launches his own beer called “Real American Beer”

Many professional wrestlers are known for celebrating with a beer, from Andre the Giant to Stone Cold Steve Austin. But a rare few actually have their own beer brand.

But now, one iconic wrestler is entering the brewery ring, rolling out his very own beer nationwide.

WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan is rolling out his new “Real American Beer,” an American-style light lager with 4.2% ABV.

According to a press release, the beer is going to be distributed across 17 states this summer and will be available at retail partners including ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, Albertsons, Safeway, Sam’s Club, Total Wine & More, and Walmart.

The beer will also be available at Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos, US military bases, and of course, Hooters.

“Real American Beer is bringing America together, one beer at a time,” said Hulk Hogan, real name Terry Bollea. “We’ve formed an all-star team to make it happen, and I’m excited to introduce Real American Beer to fans and beer lovers everywhere.”

The official launch began on June 13, when Hogan and his team appeared at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and continued the following day with appearances at MacDill Air Force Base and the Hard Rock location in Tampa Bay.

“We’re thrilled to team up with Hulk Hogan for the launch of Real American Beer,” Jim Allen, Chairman of Hard Rock International, said in the press release. “Given our past successes together, I’m confident Real American Beer will be a sensation for our guests, and we look forward to serving it at select Hard Rock venues across the country.”

Hogan began his professional wrestling career in 1977, and throughout the ’80s was the sport’s biggest star, a 12-time world champion who headlined WrestleMania eight times.

As one of the most iconic and recognizable pro wrestlers and ’80s celebrities, Hogan has lent his celebrity to various business ventures over the years, from a short-lived restaurant called Pastamania to energy drinks and microwavable burgers.

Hogan has claimed he missed out on the celebrity endorsement of a lifetime, turning down what became the hugely successful George Foreman Grill to instead endorse a meatball maker, likely costing him $200 million.

Will Real American Beer be lucrative enough to make up for that lost opportunity? Only time will tell.

Ironically, Hulk Hogan himself is sober after giving up drinking last year; the wrestler has battled addiction to alcohol and prescription painkillers. It’s not clear why he decided to put his face on a beer at this phase in his life. But maybe he just knows what the people want.
