Burger King employee who went viral for measly appreciation gift buys first home after fundraising campaign

Kevin Ford, the Burger King employee who went viral for receiving a measly goodie bag for never missing a day of work during his 27 years of service, is finally being rewarded for his hard work.

Ford told TMZ he purchased his first house on December 13 using the money his daughter raised for him via a GoFundMe campaign after his mediocre thank you gift from the fast food chain went viral.

The 56-year-old went viral in June 2022 after he received a backpack filled with movie tickets, pens, and Reese’s Pieces as a thank you for never missing a shift during his 27 years of service.

His daughter, Seryna Ford, set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to properly thank her father for raising his four daughters while working at Burger King.

By the end of the campaign more than $430,000 had been raised. Ford was left with approximately $350,000 after GoFundMe took their fees.

With the money Ford purchased his first home in Pahrump, Nevada.

The Burger King employee, who still works at the same location at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, shared his purchase with his followers on Instagram on December 29.

“I want to thank everyone all around the world for what you have done for me, something I never thought would be possible for me, homeownership,” he said in his video.

“Now my kids and my grandkids have a place to come visit me, and I just want to thank everybody for being a part of this miracle and for everything you’ve done for me and continue to do for me everyday,” he told the outlet.

Although his new home is now an hour commute from work, Ford says owning a home is “truly an American dream. It’s a Christmas miracle.”

Congratulations, Kevin!
