NYC doctor inspired by her hospital staff starts GoFundMe to feed overwhelmed doctors and nurses

The number of positive COVID-19 cases is rapidly increasing in New York City. Patients are flooding the hospitals and overwhelming the system and as of right now there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.

Doctors and nurses are working tirelessly to help COVID-19 patients all while putting their own lives at risk for contracting the virus.

A resident doctor at resident at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, a smaller facility in Queens, New York, was inspired by her colleagues and decided to do something for them.

Dr. Michelle Hernandez and her sister set up a GoFundMe in order to raise funds so they could provide meals for staff at the community hospital. So far they have raised over $5,000.

“Everyone is working hard, and I think this little bit of an initiative just to provide a dinner when everything is overwhelming and they don’t have time to eat or make something for themselves to eat is just incredible,” Hernandez told WABC.

Nurses, doctors, and all those who are working at hospitals right now are giving up so much of their lives and risking so much in order to take care of us. The least we could do is feed them.

If you can donate, please consider helping out your local hospital. They’re working endless hours and many barely have time for a break, much less time to prepare themselves a meal.
