Bride killed hours after her wedding by a suspected drunk driver traveling in the wrong direction

Just hours after Angelica Gabrielle Dhondup married her high school sweetheart, she was killed in a head on crash.

The 26-year-old was returning from her wedding reception on Friday when a driver traveling in the wrong direction hit the vehicle she was in near Salt Lake City, Utah, the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) said.

A Toyota pickup truck traveling south in the northbound lanes struck the victim’s Toyota Corolla head-on.

Angelica suffered fatal injuries while a 20-year-old woman she was traveling with was rushed to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A GoFundMe set up to help her husband and three children said she hadn’t even been married a full 24 hours.

“She is leaving behind a widowed husband, 2 young handsome sons and a daughter she was a week away from adopting,” wrote organizer Gina Lucero, who identifies herself as the victim’s cousin.

She said the driver of the vehicle was drunk but this is still under investigation, as per Fox 5 News.

After the crash, UHP said a passerby stopped to help the driver and passenger of the Toyota pickup.

However, the driver, who has not been identified, stole the Good Samaritan’s pickup but was quickly stopped by troopers. The passenger ran away but later returned to the scene, as per Fox5 News.

The GoFundMe, which has so far raised almost $17,000, said a candlelit vigil and balloon release was held in her memory on Saturday.

My heart goes out to the family, new husband, and children of this woman. May she rest in peace.

I hope whoever is responsible for this horrific crash is properly punished for their reckless actions. Please share.
