It’s been a long time since fans of Celine Dion had something to be optimistic about where the superstar is concerned.
The legendary songstress has been battling the crippling stiff person syndrome for a while now, and of late it has felt like every update served only to ratify the fact that her condition was gradually getting worse.
Dion has kept herself well away from the spotlight since her diagnosis was made public, going more than three years without being photographed in public.
Recently, however, the 55-year-old gave her legion of followers something to be pleased about after making a surprise appearance at a hockey game in Las Vegas. Dion posted for photos with her three sons during the event, and now people can’t let go of one particular detail…
Suffice it to say it’s been a long and rocky road since Celine Dion confirmed that she was fighting Stiff Person Syndrome.
In December 2022, the singer revealed she had been diagnosed with the disease, a rare neurological condition that affects a person’s muscles.
“While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what’s been causing all of the spasms that I’ve been having,” she said in an emotional video.
“Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”
Indeed, all those praying for a swift recovery have been left to accept the fact that Dion’s health struggles are worse than first feared.
The star has been disappeared from the spotlight for a long time now, and though updates as to her condition have been forthcoming, none of them have painted a particularly rosy picture.
Back in August, the singer’s sister, Claudette Dion, offered a rather grim update, stating: “We can’t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important,” as per SheMazing.
She added: “At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It’s important to listen to it.”
Having canceled her world tour, there were even fears that Dion would never perform again, with certain rumors insisting that she’d lost her ability to sing.
Whether or not those have a modicum of truth remains to be seen, but it seems beyond doubt now that Dion’s health has been an up-and-down rollercoaster ride of late.
Which is why fans of the superstar will have been delighted with her recent public appearance at the NHL game between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Montreal Canadiens.
Dion visited the players backstage and posed for photos alongside her children.
“My boys and I had such a fun time visiting with the Montreal Canadiens after their hockey game with Vegas Golden knights in Las Vegas,” she wrote on Instagram after the game. “They played so well, what a game!! Thank you for meeting us after the game, guys!”
Fans were quick to note how health the singer looked, taking to the internet to reveal their joy at her return to the spotlight after so long a time off.
“We miss u Céline, let us know how you are doing please,” one fan wrote.
Another added: “You don’t know how much we missed you!! So happy to finally see you smiling and having fun as you always did!! We love you Queen. Happy to see that you are fine, please, don’t disappear.”
“Little by little, day by day one step at the time! 🤍 We’ve missed you so much!!!” a third commented.
“You don*t know how i am feeling good to see you having fun like this. God bless u!” someone else stated.
