Jack Nicholson’s friends afraid he’ll die alone as tragic truth comes to light

We’ve known for some time now that Jack Nicholson‘s health is waning. The iconic actor hasn’t been seen in public for well over a year and reports suggest he’s suffering from dementia.

Indeed, the 85-year-old, who unofficially retired from acting in 2010, has sparked fear among his closest friends – they’re worried about his self-isolating behavior.

The Academy Award winning was last spotted out at a Lakers game with his son, Ray Nicholson, in October 2021, but since then there’s been little to go on with regards his condition.

Certain sources have claimed that the One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest actor’s actions – or lack of – are a source of major concern for his friends as he “doesn’t leave his house anymore”. It’s also said that “his mind is gone”, though the actual condition of his cognitive capabilities remains unknown to the general public.

Nicholson, whose last acting credit came with How Do You Know (2010), is believed to spend the majority of his time inside his mansion in Beverly Hills. The actor famously shared a driveway (nicknamed Bad Boy Drive) with his close friend Marlon Brando, before purchasing – and then demolishing – Brando’s house in 2005, after the latter’s death.

Speaking to Radar Online, one source revealed that Nicholson has been unusually reclusive of late.

“He’s made it clear his home is his castle. But people just wish he’d come out of the house and pop up to tell them how – or at least reassure folks he’s OK,” the source said.

Another source told the outlet: “Jack’s in touch with certain relatives – especially Ray, his protégé, who he’s so proud of – but his socializing days are long gone.”

Given that the 85-year-old is rumored to be in a state of declining mental health, perhaps it’s not so strange that he wishes to keep himself away from the prying eyes of others.

Even so, his behavior has started to draw comparisons – ironically enough – with the late Marlon Brando.

“Brando died a virtual recluse after leading such a colorful life, and Jack’s friends are drawing the comparisons,” a source added.

“His kids will visit, but they’re his only connection to the world.

“It’s like he doesn’t want to face reality anymore and that’s just sad.”

His last public appearance was a rare occurrence and fell on the date of a memorial for NBA legend Kobe Bryant. Jack has long been a huge fan of basketball and shared a personal friendship with Kobe.

After the basketball legend’s sudden death in 2020, he released a statement that read: “I was used to seeing and talking to Kobe… It kills you. We’ll think of him all the time, and we’ll miss him.”

While Nicholson’s team has not confirmed a diagnosis, sources close to him hint that he is suffering with dementia.

According to the source, Nicholson is currently spending as much time as he can with his children and other family members, to make up for lost time.
