She was a young, happy and healthy woman with her entire life ahead of her.
Jacuie Goncher was 17 when her life took a drastic turn.
In what was a tragic accident, Jacquie Goncher broke her neck badly one day, after diving into a friend’s pool.
She was paralyzed from the neck down and was told by the doctors that she would never be able to walk again.
Harsh words to hear, but none of that took away hope from this young woman. By refusing to give up, she began an intensive rehabilitation process.
After just six months, Jaquie defied all odds when she miraculously managed to stand on her feet again.
Unfortunately, her damaged spinal cord was so bad that she could only stand maximum 30 minutes at a time.
The years that followed were tough and she was forced to use a wheel chair.
The wheelchair sentence didn’t stop her though – Jaquie was determined to prove the doctors wrong once again.
Her goal became even more important to her when she got engaged with her beloved Andy. Jaquie now set herself a new goal: she would be able to walk down the aisle at her wedding – as well as being able to stand still.
Only a handful of people knew about Jaquie’s plan.
She would spend countless hours every day at the gym to rebuild her strength.
At last – the big day had arrived.
In front of the surprised guests, Jaquie gathered all her power and stunned them all. Everyone watched as she got off the wheelchair… and began to walk.
Needless to say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Staying true to the promise she made herself – Jaquie also stood still on her two feet throughout the entire ceremony.

Not only did this strong and brave girl manage to walk and stand still just like she said she would – Jaquie and Andy also held a traditional first dance!
“I wanted our wedding photos to symbolically show the long journey I’d been through,” Jaquie told Huffington Post.
A beautiful moment that was not only captured by cameras, but also a painbrush.
Jaquie has only good things to say about the love of her life and now husband, who has always been supportive.
“He has believed in me and my goals but through it all I always knew no matter what the outcome, he would be my side,” Jaquie tells Huffington Post.
