Kate Middleton wears three rings on her wedding finger, and the reason why is beautiful

Kate Middleton has a wardrobe and jewelry collection that is perhaps the envy of the world.

As a doting mom of three children and a happy and devoted wife to Prince William, it seems her life couldn’t be more of a fairytale.

On Thursday Kate and Prince William celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary releasing two beautiful portrait pictures looking very happy together after a decade of marriage.

They also shared a rare family video of them enjoying time at their country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk, taking part in fun activities like toasting marshmallows over an open fire and taking part in leisurely walks on the beach.

They are the picture of married bliss but the road hasn’t always been smooth for these two.

They met while studying at St Andrews University in Scotland but after dating for a number of years Prince William got cold feet and decided to call it off.

The paparazzi was waiting outside Kate’s home to hound her day and night following the split in 2007 and she was given the nickname ‘Waity Katy’ by the British tabloid media.

Meanwhile, Prince William clearly missed having Catherine in his life and contacted her soon after the split. The couple were often snapped at the same events albeit not together and after a couple of months the couple had reunited.

It was clear that the two were serious about each other but still Kate was subjected to intense media scrutiny with critics claiming the descendant of coal miners was too “middle class” for royalty.

But despite them becoming the target of all the media’s attention, for better or for worse, the couple forged ahead with their relationship and William proposed to Catherine in 2010 while on a trip to Kenya.

It wasn’t long before the beautiful princess-to-be was pictured wearing an all too familiar ring made famous by Princess Diana.

The 12-carat sapphire sparkler has 14 solitaire diamonds surrounding it and is the late Princess Diana’s original jewel from the ring given to her by Prince Charles when they got engaged.

Created by Garrard & Co back in 1981 it was initially referred to in the press as the “commoner’s sapphire,” thought to be a reference to the fact that the ring was not a bespoke design.

It’s thought the beautiful ring was left to Prince William’s young brother Harry by his mother and then he generously gave it to William so he could propose to Catherine with it.

After their mother’s untimely death in 1997 their father Prince Charles allowed the boys to select pieces from their mother’s jewelry box, according to the Daily Mirror.

Harry opted for Diana’s sapphire ring, while his elder brother William took a gold Cartier watch.

According to the princess’ former butler Paul Burrell William told his brother Harry that it would be very fitting if Kate had their mother’s ring.

“Then one day that ring will be sat on the throne of England,” Burrell added. “Harry gave up his precious treasure.

“His one thing he kept from his mother, he gave to his brother. That’s selfless, kind and exactly who Diana was.”

The alleged story behind this stunning piece of jewelry makes it even more special. It’s a ring you definitely cannot miss but eagle-eyed fans of the Duchess of Cambridge have also spotted two other rings she wears on her wedding finger.

One of the rings Kate wears is her wedding ring, made of Welsh gold, and the third ring she wears on her wedding finger is thought to be a present from Prince William.

The Eclipse Diamond Eternity Ring by Annoushka is said to have been given to the duchess after they welcomed Prince George in 2013.

During Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, Kate was also spotted wearing a citrine ring which is a pale yellow stone named after the French word for lemon – Citrone.

Initially, it was believed the gorgeous citrine ring was a present from the Duke of Cambridge to his wife after the birth of their third child Prince Louis.

However, it was later revealed that Kate had owned the band for many years after the release of a picture of her wearing it in January 2008.

While the two bands she wears every day are rather understated the duchess is not short of a sparkly piece of jewelry or two.

The former buyer for fashion chain Jigsaw has been pictured wearing iconic tiaras and gem-encrusted earrings.

Her latest addition is reported to be a $12,000 (£9,000) diamond necklace in the shape of a daisy, from Asprey, which may have been an anniversary gift from William.

Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice never wear tiaras, though both Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton have.

Prince William has proved to be quite the romantic during their ten-year marriage gifting his wife a pair of blue sapphire earrings to match her engagement ring and for their first Christmas together as a married couple he gave her jewelry from her favorite designer, Kiki McDonough.

Catherine is also able to loan a number of eye-catching pieces from the royal vault including a Cartier Halo tiara from the Queen’s collection.

It was a very romantic message.

Whatever Catherine wears she shines; she seems truly happy with her prince and has so much fun as a hands on mom.

It’s not surprising that the world has fallen in love with her and I look forward to seeing her grow even more as a person in her own right.
