Matt Damon and Ben Affleck might have a legendary friendship that has stood the test of time, but there are cracks forming as a result of the latter’s relationship with Jennifer Lopez, according to reports.
A source close to the topic at hand is said to have told the National Enquirer that The Martian star Damon isn’t a fan of how his close pal has been acting since reuniting with Lopez.
Affleck and Lopez famously became a couple after meeting on the set of the film Gigli in 2002, embarking on a passionate romance that included a canceled wedding before they eventually broke up in 2004.
The intense media attention surrounding the couple was largely blamed for their split, but Affleck and Lopez rekindled their love for one another in 2021 after their respective failed marriages.
Yet while the couple once dubbed “Bennifer” by the media seem to be getting along like a house on fire now, there’s one person who might have been left disgruntled by the whole affair.
As per reports, Matt Damon – a close friend of Affleck’s for what feels like forever – harbors doubts as to how his Dogma co-star is being treated.
“Matt has had serious reservations about Bennifer 2.0 from the beginning,” a source told the National Enquirer.
“He’s tried to publicly support Ben, but the fact is he hates the way JLo treats his friend and can no longer bite his tongue.”
Furthermore, speculation insists that the couple are in the midst of marital issues due to Lopez’s controlling behavior.
“It’s no secret that Ben and JLo don’t get along, as he always seems to be in the doghouse,” the National Enquirer source continued. “It’s obvious something needs to change, but when Matt started giving Ben advice, everything exploded.”
They finished: “Seeing his friend posing on a red carpet, totally playing this role as JLo’s arm candy, makes Matt nauseous. He can’t bear to see her constrain Ben. But after Matt challenged him, Ben started pulling back.”
