Mom left in tears after only one child attends her son with Down syndrome’s 5th birthday party

When we have children, the idea of seeing them disappointed or hurt in any way just doesn’t sit well.

Of course, there are all manner of challenges out their in the world, and so as parents we do our best to prepare them (and ourselves) to meet them head on.

Some things, however, just can’t be prepared for, and so perhaps cut even deeper when they occur. Take the recent example of one U.S. mom taking to TikTok to explain the misery she felt when all but one child failed to turn up to her 5-year-old son’s birthday party.

As per the video – posted by user Nosilla865 – the heartbroken mom says: “This weekend we had a drive-by party for my son who turned five.

“Do you want to know how many people came? One. Normally this would be bad for any kids, but my son has Down’s Syndrome.”

The clip of the mom telling her story has already been viewed more than 7 million times. Nosilla865 says she organized the drive-by birthday so that her son Jude would feel special.

She continued: “My son has Down’s syndrome and when he didn’t realize what was going on that hurt, but what happens when he knows?

“What happens when he knows that he’s being purposely left out? Why?”

Needless to say, there were countless people who left messages of support and warmth in the comments. The mom later updated followers with a post to show a picture of little Jude enjoying an ice cream, so hopefully he understands just how much he is loved.

It breaks my heart to see children left disappointed. I can only hope Jude knows how much his mother cares for him, and that he grows up feeling warmth and a connectivity to others.

Share this article on Facebook to wish Jude a very Happy Birthday! ❤️
