Cops were called to the home of Kevin Costner just days after the famous actor was “blindsided” by divorce papers, according to Radar Online.
The news outlet say that someone in Costner’s home in Carpinteria, California placed a call to authorities to report a trespasser who was refusing to leave the property.
Police responded swiftly, arriving at Costner’s address at around 10pm on May 6, with dispatch records listing the problem as “Trespass/Refusing to Leave.” A spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office revealed that officers were able to resolve the issue using their public relation skills.
Kevin Costner’s found himself a mainstay in the media of late, and not at all for reasons the Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves actor would have liked.
Last month speculation began to swirl regarding the future of hit Western series Yellowstone, for which Costner has been the leading man since 2018.
In February, sources from the show told Deadline that Costner had been having disagreements over the show’s shooting schedule. Costner had reportedly originally limited himself to 65 days of shooting, but then only wanted to shoot for 50 days for the first part of the fifth season.
Another source told the Daily Mail that Sheridan was to blame, suggesting the co-creator “developed a God complex” and told Costner to “stick to acting” when the actor raised concerns about the show’s direction.
In any case, it’s now been confirmed that Yellowstone will be ending after its current season, with that news coming just days after Costner’s wife of 18 years, Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce.
By all accounts, the divorce filing took Costner by complete surprise. A representative for the actor released a statement at the time reading: “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.
“We ask that his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
Costner and Baumgartner married in 2004 and have three children together: sons Cayden, 15, and Hayes, 14, and daughter Grace, 12. According to TMZ, both Costner and Baumgartner are requesting joint custody of their children in the split.
As per Page Six, Oscar-winner Costner had no clue his wife was planning to file for divorce.
“Kevin was very surprised by Christine’s actions, he obviously doesn’t want the divorce and he would take her back,” one friend reportedly said.
“It’s disappointing, he loves her and he loves his children.”
US Weekly, meanwhile, quote an insider as having confirmed Costner is “deeply saddened” by the split and wants to salvage his marriage at all costs.
“He is apparently still trying to save his marriage,” the source told US Weekly.
“Kevin loves his wife and children so this has been very hard on him. He is saying that this is his worst nightmare and he would do anything for his family.”
“Everyone thought Kevin and his wife were super happy, so it’s all surprising,” the insider went on. “He truly loves her and is trying to get her back. He’s been blindsided by this.”
With tensions running high and emotions running even higher, it can safely be assumed that the last thing Costner needs is strangers turning up at his residence and refusing to leave.
According to an exclusive report by Radar Online, however, that’s exactly what happened in the days following Baumgartner’s divorce filing.
Raquel Zick, a spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office did not shed details on who said trespasser was, or if the incident was in anyway connected to feud between Costner and Baumgartner.
“This call was cleared without an arrest or case number so that is the extent of the information,” she told RadarOnline.
Going through a divorce is never easy, especially not after such a long time together. Here’s to hoping both Kevin and Christine can settle any differences without too much agro moving forward.
