Prince Harry of Wales is to marry Megan Markle this weekend.
The date of the wedding is May 19, with the couple set to tie the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, outside of London.
A lot has been said in recent weeks concerning Megan’s father, Thomas Markle. It was confirmed a few days ago that he will not be attending the wedding due to ill-health brought about by cardiac arrest. Of course, there remains speculation it has more to do with the scandal he was caught up in, when he was paid to pose for a series of paparazzi photographs.
On Thursday, Megan made a statement that informed the world her father wouldn’t be there to see her wed. The announcement has raised a large number of questions in Britain as to who will be walking her down the aisle?
Many believed perhaps the bride’s mother, Doria Ragland, would be handed the honor…
However, it has now been made clear who will be taking Thomas’ place – none other than Prince Charles will fill the void, as per the BBC.
It was on Twitter that the royal family announced their decision.
The tweet reads: “Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St. George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day. The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”
The news has caused a media frenzy around the world, with people quick to weigh in on the matter.
JUST IN: Meghan Markle will make a striking feminist statement at the royal wedding by walking down much of the aisle…
