Simple cure involving bananas and 2 other ingredients can cure bad cough

Coughing is an annoying every day blight – both for yourself and those around you.

Of course, usually it’s an involuntary act and the body’s only way of ridding the throat and airways of foreign particles, irritants, fluids and other bad things.

Chronic coughing can be caused by a number of things – smoking and asthma to name but two. Or, perhaps, you’ve been suffering from a virus.

Short-term coughs, meanwhile, could simply be a cold or flu, or something more serious such as bronchitis or pneumonia.

Getting quick remedies for your throat isn’t an easy thing. Many people use tablets or other types of oral medicines, but I’ve never been a fan of that approach.

So why not true a more natural way of helping your throat? According to The Healthy Food House, this mix is a very effective remedy that gets to work on your cough fast.

Using Bananas

Bananas are good in several different ways, but, for the purpose of this article, we’ll focus on the respiratory tract.

A study conducted at the Imperial College of London showed that children who ate bananas every day had a 34 percent less chance of suffering asthma attacks.

Honey and bananas are effective when it comes to relieving cough and cold symptoms, as they sooth irritation and both contain useful vitamins and minerals.

How to use this natural medicine

Ingredients:

  • 2 organic bananas
  • 2 tablespoons of organic honey
  • 400ml of water

How to do it:

Boil the water, then peel the bananas and mash them up in a large bowl with a wooden spoon. Pour the water over the mashed bananas and wait for the mixture to cool down. Then add the honey and stir until you have a thick, yoghurt-like substance.

When to use?

If you’ve made a batch and have it waiting in the fridge, you can heat the mixture up before consuming it. According to Healthy Food House, you should use what you’ve made within 4 days. In addition to easing your cough, it will also increase serotonin levels and help you when it comes to falling asleep. Smart, right?

This is definitely something I’m going to be trying the next time I have a cough!

Obviously, if your cough is persistent over a period of weeks, or you suspect something more serious, then you should always seek medical advice. If you believe it to just be a routine cough, however, this is certainly worth putting into practise.
