You’re going to want to pay careful attention to this story before you determine whether or not the mother-in-law in question ruined her daughter-in-law’s gender reveal party or if it was all just a coincidence.
Wesley, who posts as candacenysm on TikTok, took to the social media site to share a story that left him confused as ever.

Wesley explained how when he and his wife Candace had their twins they didn’t have enough money to throw an elaborate gender reveal party, so when the couple got pregnant again Wesley wanted to throw Candace “the most fun gender reveal.”
Even though the majority of Candace’s family and friends lived out of state, she wanted to make sure they felt included so she asked her mother and sister to help plan the party.
Once all the details were set, Candace texted her mother-in-law letting her know the date, location, and time of the party.
Her mother-in-law, Michelle, asked if there was anything she could do to help with.
The following conversation took place:
“My sister and I are actually planning it!” Candace wrote to Michelle.
“That’s not what I asked……” Michelle replied.
Not wanting to start a fight, Candace replied, “Oh, um, no we are good – but we might need help setting up on the day if you can get there at 2:30!”
Michelle then asked Candace if she would be getting paid to help set up, and when Candace asked why she would expect to get paid her mother-in-law replied with a nasty text.
“Because I’m not your f***ing maid.”
Both Candace and Wesley were stunned with Michelle and decided she was no longer invited to the gender reveal party.
Despite multiple attempts from Michelle to make amends, Wesley held his ground and refused to allow his mother to attend.
“Okay, I have no choice then.”
On the day of the party, everything went off without a hitch. Candace even had a change of heart and told Wesley he could invite his mother to the gender reveal.
With about 30 minutes before the big reveal, Wesley informed Michelle she could come to the event. But by the time the couple was ready to find out if they were having a boy or a girl, they noticed Michelle still wasn’t there so rather than continue waiting they went on with their countdown.
Everyone began counting down from 60, and when they got to 13 something dramatic happened.
“I will never forget second 13 because at second 13 the fire alarm goes off,” Wesley recalls. “And not only the fire alarm, all of the lights shut off and the emergency lights come on and it starts raining down on us.”
All the attendees rush outside and as they wait for the fire department to arrive, Wesley and Candace spot Michelle, sitting on the curb smoking a cigarette.
The couple decide to confront her about the situation, but Michelle denies ever being inside claiming she only just arrived.
However, Wesley said his mother’s pants were wet.
“Candace thinks she set the fire alarm off. I don’t know because my mom says she didn’t, Candace says she did,” Wesley says in his video. “If I had to guess, it does seem logical considering the text she sent beforehand and the fact that we’ve been ghosting her for two months.”
