YouTuber says he sleeps with gun after sharing abortion news due to Down syndrome diagnosis

YouTuber Jesse Ridgway says he and his wife have received a wave of abuse and death threats after publicly revealing that they chose to terminate a pregnancy following a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome.

Jesse Ridgway, known online as McJuggerNuggets, recently shared the deeply personal news with his followers, explaining that the couple made what he described as a “difficult decision” after learning their unborn child had Trisomy 21, also known as Down syndrome.

The announcement quickly sparked strong reactions online, with supporters and critics voicing their opinions..

Revealed devastating diagnosis

In a statement shared on social media, Ridgway said the decision to terminate the pregnancy had been incredibly painful.

“The choice was not made lightly.”

“I know some of you may be very disappointed to hear this news. We are devastated. This has been extremely traumatic for both of us, especially Ashley.”

He went on to explain that his wife had undergone the procedure and was recovering physically.

“Thankfully, everything went smoothly, but emotionally, we are drained.”

Explained reasons behind decision

After sharing the news publicly, Ridgway also spoke about some of the medical complications that can be associated with Down syndrome. According to him, the couple considered a range of health concerns affecting both mother and child before making their decision.

He described the process as heartbreaking and said the couple spent considerable time weighing their options before moving forward.

Couple has received death threats

The announcement quickly drew intense reactions online. While many people offered support, Ridgway said others responded with anger and hostility.

According to the YouTuber, he and Ashley were subjected to a barrage of abusive messages following their announcement.

“The last 24 hours have exposed a side of humanity that is deeply disturbing,” Ridgway wrote.

He claimed the couple had been called “murderous pieces of s**t”, compared to Adolf Hitler and targeted with repeated death threats.

Speaking to TMZ, Ridgway said he had been shocked by the scale of the backlash.

“With the death threats and stuff, it’s been shocking,” he said.

The influencer also revealed that concerns about safety have led the couple to take additional precautions at home.

“I have a gun next to my nightstand, because it’s been getting so ridiculous.”

According to Ridgway, security measures around their home have also been increased following the threats.

Couple also receiving messages of support

Despite the criticism, Ridgway said many people have reached out privately to express support.

He claimed that numerous mothers contacted the couple after hearing their story, thanking them for speaking openly about a topic that many families face in private.

“There has never been a more important time to speak up and out about the things that matter. Do not let the vocal minority stop you from sharing your truth.”

Ridgway also offered support to others facing similar circumstances.
