Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to cooling down in the summer heat. But now, experts are warning against a new trend in which women reportedly use popsicles on their private parts to cool down.
Summer has arrived, and with it comes rising temperatures. Many people have been longing for the season, but most can agree that once temperatures reach a certain point, it’s important to find ways to stay cool.
Some use air conditioning, others prefer spending their days by the pool, or simply staying in the shade for as much of the day as possible. Others, however, have turned to slightly more… controversial methods.
Temperatures in the UK have been unusually high lately, and according to Tyla, they have sparked what has been described as an alarming trend. Reports suggest that some Brits have attempted to cool down by applying popsicles to their private parts – a practice health experts are now strongly warning against.
Sexual wellness expert Frankie Morris, from adult retailer SoloFun, told Tyla: “We aren’t used to this heat, so it’s obvious why people go to these extremes, but doing so will put your health at risk.
“Ice lollies, frozen food or anything else sugary near your intimate areas is going to cause you a problem.”
“Can cause irritation, discomfort and infections”
She continued: “The skin around these areas is sensitive to extreme cold, sugar, and flavourings that were never meant for intimate use.
“Using them in this way can cause irritation, discomfort and infections.”
Experts warn that men should also avoid the trend, as it can lead to ice burns. However, women may face additional risks, including irritation and infection, particularly if insertion is involved.
“If something has not been designed for intimate use, then it shouldn’t be used there,” Morris said.
“There are plenty of ways to cool down during this heatwave that don’t involve putting your health at risk.
“While the heat is uncomfortable to many of us right now, the answer isn’t to reach for something from the freezer and use it somewhere it was never meant to go.”
