26-year-old Steven Hamill felt something was wrong “downstairs.” One day, he sensed a ‘death smell’ coming from his penis. Doctors dismissed his symptoms, which were cancer. Now, he wants to spread awareness – and warn others.
A young father is now sharing his story after a terrifying health ordeal – and his warning could save lives. What started as a strange and embarrassing symptom quickly turned into something far more serious… with life-changing consequences.
Just 26 years old, Steven Hamill noticed something was wrong. At first, doctors believed it was a simple infection and sent him home with treatment. But things soon took a disturbing turn.
“I would describe this smell as death. The smell followed me round and it was awful and other people could smell it,” he said.
At the same time, he was dealing with severe pain and swelling – clear signs that something wasn’t right. Despite returning to doctors multiple times, Steven says his concerns weren’t taken seriously.
Man has four inches of his penis amputated after ‘death smell’ was cancer
He was even told he was too young to have cancer. But his condition continued to worsen until a frightening moment changed everything.
Eventually, Steven Hamill was rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious and bleeding, where doctors finally discovered the truth. He was diagnosed with penile cancer, a rare disease that affects around 700 men per year in the UK.
To save his life, doctors had no choice but to perform major surgery. Steven had around half of his penis amputated.
“I was really lucky that I was well endowed because if I was average, I would have gone down to about one or two inches and that functionality isn’t really there anymore,” he recalled.
Symptoms of penile cancer
Today, Steven is cancer-free and even became a father – something he was once told might not be possible. But the experience changed him forever.
He admits the mental impact has been difficult, especially on his confidence and relationships. Now, Steven Hamill is urging others not to ignore warning signs, sharing his story on TikTok
According to Cancer Research UK, penile cancer is rare. However, it’s crucial to detect it early. Common warning signs include bleeding, limping, swelling, and sometimes even nasty-smelling discharges. For Steven, the last-mentioned symptom was the biggest red flag.
We’re so happy that Steven made it out alive. Please share this article to raise awareness for penile cancer. Hopefully, it can save lives.
