If you’re anything like me, you get a quite bored of baking the same kind of birthday cake over and over again, year after year. Also, while my cakes tend to taste rather okay if I dare say so myself, Ill be the first to admit they’re not necessarily the prettiest… That’s why when I came across this recipe for this breathtaking rose shaped cake, I was completely blown away. It may appear difficult to put together such a incredible creation, but with the help of instructions from baking queen Vanessa, I think even I might be able to manage it. As far as I can tell, the cake is not only beautiful – it looks absolutely delicious, too.
Vanessa prepares the cake bases and raspberry cream.
She splits the cakes in half so that she gets four parts. She stacks them on top of each other, with raspberry cream in between. H3>
She then cuts the cake edges with a bread knife… h3>
… Until it takes a round shape.
Instead of using marzipan or sugar paste for the cover, Vanessa used ‘chocolate mud’ – or modelling chocolate as it is also called. It tastes much better than sugar paste! H3>
Now the fun begins. She gently bends the chocolate mud into small petals as she slowly begins to adorn the cake, starting from the top.
Now the peak is done!
To cover the rest of the cake, much larger parts of chocolate mud are needed.
Then, she adds small green “leaves” to the bottom.
Here is the final result! Could it be more irresistible?
