Crowd Buckles Over In A Fit Of Laughter As 14 Silent Monks Interpret “Hallelujah.”

The first time I saw this clip, I didn’t really know what was happening. Fourteen people wearing hoods sneak on stage and stand there completely silent. And although they might look like monks, they’re actually American high school students dressed up to perform a very special version of the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s oratorio “Messiah.” Before the students start, the auditorium is silent. But when the music starts, the audience realizes what’s happening and laughs out loud. Talk about a creative interpretation!

At first, they stand just there, and the audience has no idea what to expect.
