Last week, a magical talent and the incomparable voice of Leonard Cohen left us when the legendary Canadian singer, songwriter and poet died at age 82.
During his 82 years on earth, Cohen wrote classics that would go on to live forever. During his successful career, he sold over 60 million albums and in 2008 became the first Canadian to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Among his most famous songs are titles such as “I’m Your Man”, “Chelsea Hotel” and “Suzanne”. But the song that most likely immediately think of when Cohen’s name comes up is no doubt “Hallelujah”. The song certainly got a renewed boost when shows like “Idol” and “X Factor” began to emerge in the 2000s, and so many chose to take their shot at the difficult classic.
That’s precisely what Alexandra Burke aimed to do in 2008 when she auditioned on the X-factor. If you’re wondering if she did the song justice, just scroll down and watch her performance below.
