The little boy’s sudden passing is incredibly heartbreaking. He had his entire life ahead of him. What is more concerning is how the tragic incident even came about.
7-year-old Troy Khoeler from north Harris County was reported missing by his parents at 5:20 a.m. on Thursday morning. It is estimated that the boy had been missing for about an hour before his parents reported it to the authorities.
According to reports, constable deputies were searching inside the home for the missing boy when they discovered him inside the top-loading washing machine. They found the 7-year-old boy after he had already passed away.
It is unclear what his cause of death was but officers are investigating. Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit, the Crime Scene Unit, and the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office are involved in the investigation.
“We don’t know what happened but we intend to find out,” says Lt. Robert Minchew with the Homicide division, when asked about the case.
Young Troy was adopted by the family in 2019, and before that had been a foster child with them.
It is reported by officials that the father was home at the time of the incident. While the mother had just gotten home from her work shift at a local hospital.
Kenyetta Hewett’s son Marvin was Troy’s classmate and came by to remember the little boy when they heard the tragic news. “He (Marvin) was heartbroken when we saw it on the news so he actually got one of his toys and he wanted to come and lay it here in remembrance,” she said.
Investigators are reporting that there seem to be no signs of forced entry into the home from any of the doors or windows.
There have been no arrests made in conjunction with this arrest. But both parents have been detained and separated as is standard procedure in cases such as this.
An autopsy will be performed by the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death for the little boy.
It is truly such a heartbreaking loss to see a life lost so young. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
