The Ribeiro family was in the news cycle recently due to a tragic accident that injured their 4-year-old daughter Ava. Now the family is providing an update on how the little girl is doing.

Alfonso Ribeiro’s daughter Ava is recovering after her scooter accident occurred a day before her birthday. The little girl had to undergo emergency surgery one day before her 4th birthday bash.
Alfonso’s wife and Ava’s mother Angela Ribeiro shared an update on her daughter’s health so well-wishers could be in the know.
“She’s doing better and better each day,” Angela said in responding to a question sent in by a fan. She said on her Instagram story. “She has certainly been [a] trooper this past week.”
A week ago news broke that Ribeiro’s daughter had been in an accident which required emergency surgery. Angela later spoke about the incident, writing, “I woke up and had a vision/motherly intuition of Ava ending up in the ER today.” She added, “I announced to the fam, kids, sitter & friends helping out getting ready for Ava’s birthday party that ‘we are not doing anything crazy or dangerous today that could potentially end up with an ER visit.'”
The same day, little Ava “crashed off a sit-down scooter” which required an emergency medical procedure that would “hopefully, eventually have little scaring on her face and arms.”
Angela shared pictures of her daughter with wounds across her arms and face. A few days later, Alfonso made an appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark and gave a rundown of what had happened. “So, it was a very stressful weekend,” the dad said. He added, “She fell and had basically road rash on her face and arm, and so they had to scalpel off all the skin.”
Despite having a scary accident that required emergency surgery the day before, the little girl was in good spirits for her birthday party the next day. “Happy Birthday to my sweet Ava Sue. As some of you know Ava had a very difficult week,” Alfonso wrote on Instagram. “I’m so proud of how well she handled everything. She’s so brave strong and creative. I love everything about my little girl.”
