Amanda Seyfried claims she was forced to hire a bodyguard after controversial Charlie Kirk comments

Amanda Seyfried faced heavy criticism for her comments about Charlie Kirk following his assassination. Now, she shares that she had to hire a bodyguard due to the backlash.

Conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk was assassinated while at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, in September of last year.

The killing shocked many worldwide, with many honoring him. Actress Amanda Seyfried did not. After the assassination, Seyfried called Kirk “hateful” on Instagram, prompting heavy criticism. A week after Charlie Kirk’s death, the Mamma Mia star publicly condemned the murder but also maintained her criticism of his views.

“I can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk’s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable,” Seyfried wrote.

In December, during an interview with Who What Wear, Seyfried explained she would not apologize for calling Charlie Kirk hateful, despite the ongoing outrage sparked by her earlier comments.

“I’m not apologizing for that. I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality, actual footage and actual quotes. What I said was pretty damn factual, and I’m free to have an opinion, of course,” the actress said.

She admitted she had considered deleting her comment after receiving a lot of hateful messages. However, in the end, she did not delete it. Her family and friends became concerned for her safety.

Now, speaking with British GQ, Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she feared for her own safety and decided to hire a bodyguard.

“A, I’m allowed to f–king voice my feelings, and B, do it in a way that’s not unkind necessarily. But there’s just an outsized fear, and hatred, and impulse to bash and tear down. And I experienced a very small fraction of that,” the actress said.

Like Charlie Kirk, Amanda Seyfried has two children. She shares her daughter, Nina, 9, and her son, Thomas, 5, with her husband, Thomas Sadoski.

“I want my kids to be able to feel safe to voice their opinions as long as they’re not harmful,” Seyfried told British GQ. “So I’m like, ‘What do I do? What do I say?’ And then all of a sudden I find myself with a f–king bodyguard at the airport and I’m like, ‘This is crazy.'”
