A lot of people may consider it nearly impossible to find someone they like after they are 50 years old. And the question of falling in love might be completely ludicrous to them at that age. But luckily, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin are not those people.
They met one another after they turned 50 years old, and their love made them look like teenagers in love.
The story of Barbra Streisand and James Brolins’ love starts off much like many other stories of love do; with a blind date. The two were set up on a blind date but unbeknownst to Brolin, she had a completely different idea of what he might look like.
The singer was under the impression she was meeting a man with a full head of hair and a beard but saw that Brolin was bald.
Streisand who is known to be incredibly honest could not contain herself and very honestly told her date that his hair was messed up. Instead of offending Brolin, she endeared him and he knows Streisand was the one for him.
Unlike Brolin, it took Streisand a few more dates before she became sure of her feelings for the actor. But soon the two were fully in love and tied the knot in 1998.

This was not either of their first marriage. Streisand had been married to Elliot Gould from 1961 to 1973 and shares her son Jason with him. While Brolin had been down the altar twice before. Once with casting agent Jane Agee for 20 years, then with Jane Smithers, for almost 10 years.
Brolin has three children from his previous marriages; Josh, Jess, and Molly Brolin. He is also a grandfather of four kids; Eden, Trevor, Westlyn, and Chapel.
Brolin is smitten with his wife. He cannot imagine doing life without anyone else, he once said, “Every night is a new adventure. Sleeping is a waste of time. I can’t wait to see her again in the morning.”
In an interview with CBS, Brolin shared how he would spend three to five hours on the phone with Streisand when he was shooting in the Philippines. At the time cell phones were not as common as today and the calls would cost him about $5 a minute. He joked about how he possibly spent all the money he made in the film on the phone calls themselves.
When he was asked what the couple even talked about on such long calls, the actor replied, “teenage crap.” He truly thought of Streisand as his teenage fantasy where the couple spent hours on the phone just lost in one another.
The couple is still as much in love with one another as they were at the beginning of their love. However, Brolin shared how people did not think the two of them would last. One of the first people to doubt them Brolin shared was his own ex-partner.
When the Covid-19 virus led to a lockdown and broke down several relationships in its wake, the two of them only got closer to one another and fell deeper in love.
The two of them did not think they would find love again and feel incredibly lucky to have found one another.

The house that they share is one Streisand wanted for over a decade. And when she finally got her hands on it, she designed each space lovingly and put flowers and plants in places after a lot of thought.
The couple is very much in love with one another. Brolin is happy to be with a woman who can hold her own in terms of her career. He has made a statement that shocked some people; they maintain separate bank accounts. Brolin has clarified that since this is his third marriage, he does not want to cause petty issues in terms of finances.
Another important thing the actor wanted for their marriage was the inclusion of a “referee,” a therapist who can mediate any issues that arise between the two of them. This helps him and Streisand get to the bottom of their issues without a problem and hence keep their marriage healthy.
Brolin has shared another detail that helps the couple keep the spark alive; mystery. He says he will sometimes get a message from Streisand asking him to hurry back home, and when he does there is usually a surprise gift waiting for him. The actor does the same thing for Streisand and usually opts to gift her jewelry. The famed songstress is very particular about her jewelry hence sometimes she does not love what her husband picked out for her.
They also make an effort to go on dates and make sure they keep the spark alive that way. They travel to exotic places and go to nice restaurants to have meals with one another.
The couple also likes to swim together. This is something they do to keep fit as well. Afterward, they take time in the sauna and cool off with an ice bath.
