Donald Trump slammed after sharing ‘sick’ tiger attack video

Donald Trump is facing criticism after sharing graphic footage of a fatal tiger attack in the United Kingdom, with the president accused of showing a lack of compassion toward the victim and his grieving family.

The video, which Trump posted on both X and Truth Social, shows the aftermath of an incident in which a 23-year-old man, William Chapman, was killed by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster, England.

The footage was later reposted by the White House Rapid Response account, prompting further outrage over the decision to circulate images of the man’s death.

Trump accompanied the video with the caption: “Dont [sic] ever mess with nature! President DJT.”

The post has drawn sharp reactions from people who argue that the death of a vulnerable young man should not have been used to make a political point.

One critic wrote: “Posting about a man being killed Trump has no compassion whatsoever,” according to VT.

Another commented: “So instead of saying that this is a horrible situation and should have been avoided or prevented, you condone this, even gloat. No one is surprised. Our only hope that your end will be similar.”

A third person expressed similar outrage, writing: “This is utterly outrageous and just so incredibly low. This is real person who passed away and has a family.”

What happened at Yorkshire Wildlife Park?

Chapman died after entering the enclosure of an Amur tiger named Altai, a rare type of tiger, at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

According to reports about the incident, Chapman approached the animal, spoke to it and made a one-finger gesture in its direction before the fatal attack.

The incident took place in front of several witnesses. One woman reportedly attempted to prevent Chapman from entering the enclosure but was unable to stop him.

The encounter was recorded, and police subsequently appealed to the public not to share the footage on social media.

Despite that request, the video spread online before Trump shared it with his followers.

The president has previously faced criticism for controversial social media posts, including one comparing himself to Jesus Christ and another depicting former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama as monkeys.

His decision to share footage of Chapman’s death has now sparked another wave of condemnation.

Chapman’s family speaks out

In the aftermath of the tragedy, Chapman’s family has spoken about the devastating loss of their loved one and the distress caused by the circulation of the footage.

The family said the 23-year-old had experienced ‘significant mental illness’ over the years. They also emphasized that he was deeply loved by those closest to him.

They described him as a ’bright, warm and engaging young man whom his family dearly loved – and William loved them back’.

The circulation of the video has compounded the family’s suffering as they attempt to process what happened.

In a statement addressing the footage, they said: “The publication and circulation of deeply offensive media content is causing them severe distress at an exceptionally vulnerable time.”

The family also described the pain of losing their son and called for answers about the circumstances surrounding his death.

“The family are utterly devastated by their loss and are struggling to come to terms with what has happened,

“The family are hopeful that the relevant authorities will do their upmost to get to the bottom of why our amazing son did what he did.”

Police investigation remains ongoing

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police confirmed that officers are providing the family with specialist care as they deal with the aftermath of the tragedy.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Chapman’s death, with a full investigation still underway.

Meanwhile, Trump’s decision to share the footage has prompted renewed debate about the treatment of victims and their families when graphic images of real-life tragedies circulate online.
