Trump’s niece Mary Trump has given her view on why aide Natalie Harp is so often at the president’s side. She says Trump isn’t getting the attention he needs from elsewhere, and Harp is willing to give it.
Wherever Donald Trump is, is more often than not also Natalie Harp and Trump’s niece has shared a theory about why that is. Trump being 80 and Harp 35 gives them a 45-year age gap, which has raised several eyebrows before, but Mary thinks the real issue is that Harp has “the qualities of a stalker,” and that her uncle will gladly accept the attention.
Mary Trump’s theory about Harp
On The Daily Beast podcast Mary explained that she bases her theory on letters Harp reportedly wrote to Trump in 2023. In them, Harp called him her “Guardian and Protector” and said she was terrified of disappointing him. Mary said something is “psychologically wrong with her.”
“The only case I’ve ever seen in which the stalking victim has welcomed being stalked,” she said. She also explained why she thinks Trump responds to it. “Donald is not getting the attention he needs, because nobody cares about him,” she said.
Mary went further and said all of Trump’s relationships are transactional, including those with his children. “It should become obvious to him that, you know, his children don’t care about him any more than he cares about them,” she said. “Those relationships are determined purely by who’s getting what of whom.”
Who 36-year-old Natalie Harp is
Harp began working for Trump in 2022. She became known as the “human printer” for following him around and handing him printed articles and letters. When Trump returned to the White House in 2025, she became an official Special Assistant to the President and Executive Assistant to the President.
Harp was in the spotlight again last week at a midterm rally. Trump was talking about fuel when he asked her to bring him an executive order that would temporarily allow off-road “dyed” diesel for agriculture.
“I’d like to ask Natalie to come out, Natalie, come out, bring it out here, Natalie,” he said. What got people talking online was what happened next. As Harp left the stage, Trump turned to the crowd for a couple of seconds, then turned his head to watch her walk off. Moments later, he said: “She reminds me [of], like, The Price is Right.” The remark most likely referred to the models who present prizes on the game show.
