A former partner of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has offered a bizarre explanation for the photo of the disgraced royal leaning over a woman in the Epstein files.
Andrew’s association with infamous pedophile Jeffrey Epstein has long been public knowledge. Yet the extent of the pair’s friendship and continued contact after the latter’s conviction was unknown to the masses until fairly recently.
Following mounting pressure, the Royal Family finally made the move to remove the title of “Prince” from Andrew in late 2025. Andrew himself confirmed, meanwhile, that he would cease styling himself the “Duke of York”.
More recently, Andrew was arrested in early February regarding his conduct while a trade envoy. His past deeds, it’s been speculated, are quickly threatening to catch up to him.
It came as a surprise to few people that Andrew was present in the most recent batch of Epstein files released by the Department of Justice. The DOJ dropped an incredible three million pages of documents relating to Epstein, mentioning any number of high-profile individuals and containing eerie emails, images, videos, and messages.
One image saw former prince Andrew on his hands and knees, leaning over a woman lying still on the floor. Given the intense scrutiny Andrew has faced since his car-crash interview with BBC Newsnight in 2019 regarding his dealings with Epstein, it’s perhaps small wonder that the picture in question garnered significant attention.
The true context of the image remains unknown, though there is no suggestion of wrongdoing.
Andrew, it should be said, has continued to deny any and all allegations against him relating to Epstein, as well as any knowledge of Epstein’s many crimes.
And though it seems as though the vast majority of people are taking his objections with a pinch of salt, there’s at least one person ready to defend him – at least in so far as the aforementioned image is concerned.
Andrew’s former ex-girlfriend, Lady Victoria Hervey, bizarrely suggested that the reason the former prince was leaning over the woman was because he was in the middle of a “CPR training course”.
Hervey and Andrew briefly dated in 1999, three years or so after his divorce from Sarah Ferguson. The 49-year-old has defended Andrew in the past, telling Good Morning Britain in 2019 that he would never have gone on television and been interviewed (in the Newsnight interview) if he was guilty.
Of the image released in the recent batch of Epstein files, Hervey told Dan Wooton’s Outspoken podcast: “I messaged Leah, who’s Ghislaine [Maxwell]’s lawyer, and Ghislaine is a trained emergency medical technician.”
Wootton then asked: “So what he’s learning to give someone CPR there, you think?’ to which Hervey responded: “Yeah, it’s part of the course.”
Hervey went on to claim that the girl was an “assistant” of Jeffrey Epstein’s, and that she was “overage”.
Hervey previously told LBC that anyone who wasn’t mentioned in the Epstein files was a “loser”.
“Epstein knew everybody who was very powerful,” she said.
She added: “So, like if you were on the scene and you were powerful. If you’re not in those files, it would be an insult because it just means that you were a bit of a loser.”
