A former official under the Bush administration dropped a bombshell, alleging the U.S. government built a secret underground world – a hidden haven to protect the ultra-wealthy population from a “near extinct event.”
The claims are startling and might even be hard to believe.

In a claim that sounds straight out of a dystopian sci-fi thriller, Catherine Austin Fitts, the former Assistant Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, dished some dirt when speaking with Tucker Carlson on his podcast.
Fitts, who worked under the George HW Bush administration from 1989 to 1990, told the former Fox News host that she spent several years trying to find $21 trillion of unauthorized spending in the Departments of Defense and Housing and Urban Development.
‘Unsupported adjustments’
Her interest in the missing money was sparked by a 2017 report released by Michigan State University (MSU) economist Mark Skidmore.
In the report, it was “indicated the Army had $6.5 trillion in unsupported adjustments, or spending, in fiscal 2015,” according to a release by MSU “Given the Army’s $122 billion budget, that meant unsupported adjustments were 54 times spending authorized by Congress. Typically, such adjustments in public budgets are only a small fraction of authorized spending.”
And, according to Forbes, the “gargantuan nature of unsupported” spending by the federal government “should be a great concern to all taxpayers.
Determined to locate the funds, Fitts – a former investment banker – teamed up with Skidmore and spent two years digging – deep beneath the earth’s surface.
The dirt
In her recent interview with Carlson, Fitts now alleges that for decades, the money was buried – both literally and figuratively – shielded from public knowledge by layers of government secrecy and financial manipulation.
The money, she suggests, was funneled into black budget projects, including the alleged construction of massive subterranean facilities – sprawling underground cities, complete with its own infrastructure, technology, and resources to weather a global extinction-level event.
Subterranean living
“One thing I’ve looked at is the underground base, city infrastructure and transportation system that’s been built,” she explained.
“I’m sorry?” replied Carlson, visibly shocked by her bombshell revelation.
“We have built an extraordinary number of underground bases and, supposedly, transportation systems,” Fitts elaborated. “Some of these are documented as part of the national security infrastructure. I think there are many more…in the United States and all over the world.”
Adding to the shock factor, Fitts then claimed these cities, or “bases,” also exist “under the ocean around the United States.”
About 170, she estimates, “with the transportation network connecting them.”
Save the rich
It’s unknown what features the subterranean network will offer its residents, only that the bunkers are powered by “breakthrough energy,” according to Fitts.
Also, it wasn’t immediately clear where the secret bunkers are located, Fitts only clarified the vast underground cities were built – using tax dollars – to allow the government to execute “secret” projects, or as a vault to preserve the uber elite from a “near extinction event.”
“It wasn’t an accident,” Fitts said. “It was a decision. A decision to strip the country of its assets, hollow out its communities, and leave ordinary Americans to deal with the wreckage.”
While the idea of a secret underground civilization sounds wildly conspiratorial, Fitts’ background in finance and her deep dive into government budget discrepancies have given her claims a degree of staying power. But there’s still no tangible proof.
