Infamous child killer Ian Huntley is “fighting for life” after being attacked in prison at HMP Frankland, County Durham, UK.
According to The Sun, the 52-year-old was air-lifted to hospital following the attack, which was carried out by another inmate at 9am this morning (February 26). The report details how the depraved murderer was left lying in a pool of his own blood.
Huntley is serving a life sentence with a minimum 40-year term after being convicted of the double killings of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, both 10, in August 2002.
The two girls disappeared in Soham, Cambridgeshire, UK, after leaving Wells’ home to buy sweets from a vending machine. Their route took them past the home of Huntley, then a caretaker at the high school they attended.
Two weeks after they went missing, the bodies of Holly and Jessica were found in a ditch in Lakenheath, Suffolk.
Huntley told police that he had spoken with the girls immediately before their disappearance, stating that they had asked after if his partner, who also worked at the school as a teaching assistant, had been successful in applying for a full-time position.

The then-28-year-old, who had previously faced allegations of rape, was eventually arrested and convicted of the murders. His fiancée, Maxine Carr, was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for perverting the course of justice in giving Huntley a false alibi.
After this morning’s attack, a source reportedly told The Sun that Huntley’s condition was “touch and go”, hinting that a metal pole had been used.
“It was absolute chaos and Huntley was in a terrible state. I’m amazed someone was able to get anywhere near him because he is usually really closely protected,” the source said.
“They must have timed it when he wasn’t with prison officers and must have used a weapon to injure him so severely.”

Huntley, it’s reported, has been attacked by fellow inmates on at least three occasions over the past few years. One such incident saw him hospitalized.
