Jamie Foxx – hospitalization

The 56-year-old Ray star was hospitalized on April 11. A statement from his daughter Corinne stated that he had “experienced a medical complication” but was “already on his way to recovery.”

The family did not disclose any further details about what health issues Foxx was facing, and the actor was completely out of the public eye for months, leading to some reports that his health was worse than they were letting on: an anonymous source said Foxx was battling serious condition and that his friends and family were preparing for the worst.

“Jamie’s people are saying he’s doing OK and improving, while doctors try to get to the bottom of his problems — but he wouldn’t be in a hospital this long if he was anything close to OK,” a source told RadarOnline. “His friends and family are hoping for the best — but preparing for the worst!”

“My heart is heavy this morning,” tweeted actress Nia Long. “Praying for our brother Jamie Foxx. My love and prayers run deep for you and your loved ones.”

However, Corinne Foxx disputed the rumors, saying that her father had “been out of the hospital for weeks” and was “playing pickleball.”

Return to public life

Fans were worried for weeks about whether they would ever see Jamie Foxx again — but then, the actor began appearing in public again, appearing healthy.

In July, onlookers spotted Foxx aboard a boat on the Chicago River, and he was later seen returning a stranger’s bag.

In an Instagram video posted that month, Foxx finally broke his silence in an Instagram video. He thanked his fans for their thoughts and prayers: “I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me, and how it brought me back,” he said.

“I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through. I know a lot of people were waiting, or wanting to hear updates, and to be honest with you – I just didn’t want you to see me like that.”

“I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show,” he added. “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through.”

Foxx has also continued to appear in movies: his recent films include They Cloned Tyrone, The Burial and Strays. This year he will appear opposite Cameron Diaz in the Netflix film Back in Action. He also signed on to host a new game show.

“I’m gonna tell you what happened…”

As Foxx returns to his normal Hollywood routine, there are still some unanswered questions about last year’s health scare. But recently, Foxx promised to finally explain “what happened.”

On Sunday, Foxx accepted the African American Film Critics Association’s Producers Award for his company Foxxhole Productions. During an emotional acceptance speech, he mentioned his recent health concerns.

“I’m so thankful and I get emotional because it’s beyond the scope,” he said, telling the crowd to be “thankful” and “cherish life.” “I had some people in my life that really made sure I was here because it was dire straits.”

“It feels good to be here. I cherish every single minute now. It’s different. It’s different,” he continued. “I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy, because it’s tough when you almost… When it’s almost over, when you see the tunnel.”

Also in the speech, Foxx promised to finally open up and explain exactly what happened — in his upcoming stand-up comedy special.

“Everybody wants to know what happened and I’m gonna tell you what happened but I got to do it in my way,” Foxx said.

Foxx previously teased a return to stand-up this week in an Instagram post. “I’m planning on bringing more moments… Going to get on somebody’s stage somewhere near you,” he wrote. “I got some jokes, and a story to tell.”

In other recent Jamie Foxx news, it was announced that Foxx would return to host the TV game show Beat Shazam, alongside his daughter Corinne.

Foxx had previously stepped away from hosting duties for his health: he was temporarily replaced by Nick Cannon.

We’re glad to see Jamie Foxx is doing well and is going to finally tell all about his health battle in his own way.
