The news of Jennifer Lopez filing for divorce from Ben Affleck has shocked a lot of people, but perhaps there are some who remained unfazed by it. Jane Fonda might be one person who can say she saw it coming.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck just officially declared they are going their separate ways after Lopez filed for divorce earlier this week. But while some people have been blindsided by this news, others were perhaps expecting it.
One of the people who fell in the latter category was actress Jane Fonda. After the news of Lopez filing for divorce came out, people recalled Fonda’s words to the singer and actress.
Now, as people nitpick everything Bennifer said about their marriage while they were together, people are combing through Lopez’s documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. And of note in the film are Fonda’s words.
In the film, Fonda says to Jennifer, “I want you to know that — I don’t entirely know why — but I feel invested in you and Ben,” the 86-year-old actress told Lopez in the documentary which followed Lopez’s musical film This Is Me … Now.
“I really, really, really want this to work,” Fonda she went on to say before she voiced concern about how much of her relationship Lopez was showing to the public. She went on to say, “However, this is my concern.”
“Like, it feels too much like you’re trying to prove something instead of just living it. You know, every other photograph is the two of you kissing and the two of you hugging.”
55-year-old Lopez however was unfazed and replied, “That’s just us living our life.”
“She’s very protective of me,” Lopez told the camera after the moment. She added, “She felt like, ‘You’re putting yourself out there to get beat up again.'”
Fonda and Lopez have been good friends since they starred in 2005’s Monster-in-Law.
Fonda however had more to say, especially about the viral-meme of Affleck looking bored at 2023 Grammy awards.
“I got real scared, you know, with all that s–t about the Grammys and he looks unhappy and I’m like, ‘Oh, my God, what’s happening?'” Fonda sait to Lopez who immediately came to her husband’s defense.
Lopez replied, “Nothing! He was like, ‘I’ve become the symbol of the beleaguered man.'”
Sadly, Fonda’s fears about Lopez’s fourth marriage have been realized as the singer filed for divorce earlier this week. This was a tough time for the couple as they had blended their families, and according to reports, their children had grown close to their step-parents.
Lopez is mom to teenage twins, whom she shares with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. And Affleck has three children who he shares with ex-wife, actress Jennifer Garner.
