Jenna Bush Hager reveals how parents George W. Bush and Laura Bush embarrassed her on her 16th birthday

Jenna Bush Hager has had an interesting life. She is now a beloved television personality, but before embarking on her own media career, she was still in the spotlight as former President George W. Bush’s daughter.

Now, she revealed an incident from a surprise birthday party, which still embarrasses her today. Keep reading to learn more!

Jenna Bush Hager is the co-host of the famous Today With Hoda & Jenna, along with Hoda Kotb. The two women often talk about their lives and share hilarious anecdotes with their viewers.

Of course, as the former First Daughter of the United States, the anecdotes Jenna Bush Hager shares often involve her famous parents, George W. Bush and Laura Bush. Similarly, in this story, she revealed an incident from her past, which is sure to get people laughing!

She shared that the former President of the United States and former First Lady ensured birthdays were special. She said, “I had a surprise party for my 16th birthday, me and Barbara.” She added, “We had one together and it was a pancake breakfast, which was cute.”

She shared that her mother had told the twin sisters that they had to go to school early in order to take their driving test. But all of that was a ruse to get them out of bed and ready for their sweet 16th birthday party.

“We were going to kiss my dad goodbye for school, my mom was like, ‘Go in and tell Dad goodbye,'” Bush Hager recalled. “And we walked in and all of our friends were sitting there. My parents were very creative birthday people, which was fun,” she shared.  

But that’s when things got a little awkward. Despite their meticulous planning, the Bushes had forgotten one key detail: boyfriends.

Bush Hager shared, “But then it gets kind of awkward because it’s like [they have] the old boyfriend sitting next to the new boyfriend,” she said. 

Hearing this hilarious story, Hoda Kotb commented, “Your parents are wild.”

Bush Hager is now a mother herself and shares three children Hal, 4, and daughters Mila, 10, and Poppy, 7, with her husband Henry Chase Hager. She now gets to experience the other side of party planning and awkward moments.

A while ago, she revealed that she wanted to have a fourth child. She said, “I’d like to have another. Henry put his foot down. He says we have three healthy babies. I told Henry because there was a four-year spread between Poppy and Hal, and then there was a two-year spread [between Mila and Poppy], I’m right about the time I should be having a — I should be having a baby right now!”
