Jeremy Renner – snow plow accident

Renner is best known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along with Oscar-nominated performances in The Town and The Hurt Locker.

But his thriving Hollywood career took a drastic and life-threatening turn on January 1 when the 52-year-old actor was involved in an accident in which he was run over by a 14,330-pound snowcat at his home in Washoe County, Nevada.

According to reports, Renner was removing snow from his nephew’s driveway. When the vehicle began to slide down the street towards his nephew, Renner intervened to save him but was dragged under the track.

Renner suffered blunt chest trauma, and later revealed he broke over 30 bones in his body. After being airlifted to the hospital, Renner was said to be in critical but stable condition and was in the intensive care unit.

“Last words” to family

Jeremy Renner recently revealed that, while in the hospital, he thought he might not survive and decided to write a “goodbye note” to his family.

The revelation comes from a preview for an upcoming ABC News interview with Diane Sawyer, shared by Good Morning America.

“I’m writing down notes in my phone — my last words to my family,” Renner said, breaking up with emotion.

In a previously released trailer, Renner also gets emotional after revealing he said “I’m sorry” to his family after the accident.

The clip also reveals a frightening 911 call. “Someone’s in front of my house on the ground and got run over by a snowcat, he’s been crushed,” a voice says, desperately requesting immediate emergency help. “He’s in rough shape.”

The actor also expressed gratitude that his nephew, Alex, was with him during the accident. “If I was there, on my own, that would’ve been a horrible way to die,” Renner told Sawyer. “And surely, I would’ve. Surely. But I wasn’t alone — [I was with] my nephew, sweet Alex. And the rest of the calvary came.”

“I see him in a pool of blood coming from his head,” Alex says in the interview, according to a previously-released preview. “I ran up to him. I didn’t think he was alive.”

And on his decision to save his nephew that day, Renner says he has no regrets: “I would do it again.”

Recovery

In the interview he also goes into detail of the extent of his injuries, including “eight ribs broken in 14 places,” and suffered a collapsed lung. He also broke his right knee, both ankles, right shoulder, eye socket, jaw and mandible.

However, Renner has made inspiring progress in the past few months.

While friends initially worried that Renner would never be able to walk again, he shared an inspiring update recently, revealing that he has taken his first steps since the accident via an anti-gravity treadmill.

He is also beginning to take his first steps back into public life. His upcoming Disney+ show Rennervations premieres next month, and Renner is planning to attend the world premiere in Los Angeles on April 11, his first public appearance since the accident.

“I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refilled and refueled with love and titanium,” Renner told Diane Sawyer, calling himself a “lucky man.”

“I chose to survive, you’re not gonna kill me, no way.”

It’s heartbreaking that Jeremy Renner’s condition was so bad he decided to write his last words to his family, but we’re glad that he didn’t need them and he’s been making an inspiring recovery!
