Rob Lowe’s son shares heartbreaking message after 13-year-old cousin Fiona took her own life

Actor Chad Lowe and his wife Kim Painter confirmed last week that their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, had died. Now, tributes are pouring in, including one from Fiona’s cousin, John Owen Lowe, 30, who posted a beautiful poem following her death.

Chad Lowe and his wife confirmed Fiona’s death in a statement shared with Page Six. The family wrote: “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”

The statement concluded, “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”

Chad Lowe’s daughter cause of death

Authorities were called to the family’s home at 12:10 a.m., and the cause of death was later confirmed as suicide, according to the medical examiner’s report.

In the wake of the devastating loss, Chad Lowe is leaning on his brother, Rob Lowe, for support.

According to a source who spoke with People on October 1, the brothers have always shared a close bond.

“Rob and Chad are very close. Their family and friends have rallied around Chad and Kim,” the source said. “Everyone’s heartbroken.”

Her cousin shared a poem

Fiona’s cousin, and Rob Lowe’s son, John Owen Lowe, has also paid tribute online by sharing a screenshot of a poem by Emily Dickinson to his Instagram Story.

The poem reads: “HOPE is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all.

“And sweetest in the gale is heard; and sore must be the storm that could abash the little bird that kept so many warm.

“I’ve heard it in the chillest land, and on the strangest sea; yet, never, in extremity, it asked a crumb of me.”

The family’s tributes continued after Fiona’s passing was announced. On Sunday, her sister Mabel Lowe took to Instagram and dedicated a post to Fiona.

Alongside a series of pictures of the two, the 17-year-old wrote, “I love you so much Fiona. I wish your short time here was easier and i hope your mind is at ease now, I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, i hope you knew just how much.”
