Jamison and Julian were more than brothers — they were best friends, partners in every adventure, and the heartbeat of their family.
But in a single, devastating moment, their bright futures were stolen when a tragic incident shattered their family’s world.

With their endless curiosity and infectious laughter, Jamison, aged 6, and Julian, age four, turned every moment into a treasure. Whether splashing in cool creek waters or chasing each other through sunlit meadows, their bond was a testament to the beauty of childhood.
The Keiser brothers, Jameson and Julian, grew up in Defiance, MO, and in so many ways, they were just like any other kids. They loved Disney, always getting excited to watch their favorite shows together. Mickey Mouse and Paw Patrol were constant favorites in their world.
But what made Jameson and Julian truly special wasn’t just the things they loved—it was the size of their hearts and the light they brought into every room.
They were the kind of kids who made you feel like the luckiest person in the world just by knowing them. Their kindness and warmth touched everyone they met, leaving behind memories we’ll cherish forever.
But in one heartbreaking moment, everything changed. A tragic house explosion took away their bright futures, leaving their family and everyone who loved them with a hole that can never be filled.
On the morning of January 19, 2024, the small Missouri town of Defiance was engulfed in thick smoke, blaring sirens, and a loud explosion.
Neighbor Sharon Oberla recalled hearing “a boom, like an explosion,” coming from the home.
Grandfather covered in soot
Joe Brazil, a local resident, was among the many neighbors who ran to help.
“It was a huge fire. The trucks were on fire, and I didn’t know the kids were still in the house. There was so much smoke, and then I saw the grandparents — the grandfather — he was full of soot and told me the kids were still inside. It’s terrible,” Brazil told local television station KSDK.
Firefighters arrived just minutes after police, but by then, the house was fully engulfed in flames, making it impossible to reach the boys in time.
Jameson and Julian were the cherished sons of Evelyn Turpiano and Jordan Keiser.
While their mom, Evelyn, and their grandparents, Jennifer and Vern Ham, managed to escape the fire, the boys tragically couldn’t make it out in time.
Harsh weather
The house was located next to Defiance RoadHouse, a bar and grill managed by the boys’ mother, Evelyn Turpiano,
New Melle Fire Protection District Chief Dan Casey explained that crews entered through a window and searched desperately for the children. Paramedics tried to revive them, but sadly, they were pronounced dead at the scene.
The boys were home that morning because school had been canceled due to the freezing weather. The harsh weather on that fateful day also made the firefighters’ work even more challenging. At the time of the incident, the temperature had plummeted to 11 degrees Fahrenheit.
”Weather conditions today made for a very challenging fire fighting scene and rescuing scene in general. We’ve got a total of six ambulances here on scene working to rehab our firefighter partners,” Kyle Gaines, from the St. Charles Ambulance District, told KSDK. ”Obviously, a really challenging day, of course, for the family and the first responders. These are among the most challenging that we are called to and our condolences are with the family today.”
The State Fire Marshal led the investigation into what caused the explosion and subsequent fire, but the cause has not yet been disclosed.
After this terrible tragedy, the family faced the unimaginable task of arranging two funerals while also having lost their home and everything they owned.
A GoFundMe page was set up to help with financial support. But as neighbors and friends pointed out, the family also needed prayers and emotional support as they grieved the loss of two incredible little boys.
