At 40, Kaley Cuoco announces arrival of second baby – unusual name revealed

Kaley Cuoco has welcomed her second daughter, and the unusual name she and fiancé Tom Pelphrey chose for their newborn has sparked curiosity, with an insider now revealing the special meaning behind their “perfect choice.”

The Big Bang Theory star and her fiancé,Task actor Tom Pelphrey, are expanding their family once again, three years after welcoming their first daughter, Matilda, in March 2023.

Now, the couple, who got engaged in August 2024, have another little girl to celebrate, and Cuoco couldn’t wait to share the happy news with fans, offering a glimpse of their newborn in a series of intimate hospital photos.

Philomena Carmine Bobby Pelphrey

On Oct. 14, the 40-year-old actor introduced her daughter to the world through an emotional Instagram announcement, revealing that the baby had been given the name Philomena Carmine Bobby Pelphrey.

“There are no words to describe this feeling once again. What a blessing,” The Flight Attendant star wrote.

“We are so grateful for the crazy wild up and down journey that brought us to our little Philo!” she continued, revealing the nickname they’ve given their daughter.

Cuoco, who founded pet-care compan Oh Norman, concluded the message addressing Pelphrey: “Life exploded the minute we met, and the gifts keep coming. I love you forever, girl daddy!”

First babies, then marriage

The arrival of their second daughter also fulfills a family plan Cuoco and Pelphrey discussed long before Philomena was born, even if it meant putting their wedding plans on hold.

In September 2024, Cuoco told People that she and Pelphrey “haven’t started planning anything yet” and that “maybe another kid will have to come first.”

“We’re gonna go way out of order. That’s our plan,” she said at the time.

Two years later, the couple have welcomed their second daughter, and according to an insider, the entire family is enjoying their newest addition.

Matilda meets her baby sister

“Matilda is so excited to be a big sister,” a source told People after Philomena was born. “Everyone is happy and healthy, and they are all loving up on the new addition to their family.”

While Cuoco and Pelphrey celebrated their newborn’s arrival at the hospital, Matilda was eagerly awaiting her turn to meet her baby sister.

The mother of two shared on her Instagram Stories a photo of 3-year-old Matilda smiling in a T-shirt that read “Big Sister,” adding the caption, “Someone waiting at home for us!”

“Family officially complete. Time to bring Matilda’s baby home!” The 8 Simple Rules star shared.

Name honors family

With their family of four finally together, attention has turned to the distinctive name Cuoco and Pelphrey chose for their second daughter, particularly the two middle names that carry a personal connection to their loved ones, according to the insider who spoke with People.

“They always choose the middle name to honor family members,” the source explained, adding that “Carmine is a nod to her father,” while Bobby is “a nod to Tom’s side of the family.”

But the inspiration behind Philomena’s first name came from the couple’s shared taste in traditional names, something reflected in their decision to name their first daughter Matilda.

“They love classic, vintage names, so Philo was the perfect choice for them,” the source added.

With Philomena now home and Matilda embracing her new role, Cuoco and Pelphrey have plenty to celebrate as they settle into life as a family of four.
