The Arizona man who was detained after a SWAT team raided his home in connection with the assumed abduction of Nancy Guthrie has spoken out for the first time.
Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY co-host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for over a month, having disappeared from her home on February 1. Authorities have confirmed they believe she was taken.
Despite a frantic, multi-agency search, Nancy’s current whereabouts remains unknown. On February 13, SWAT members descended on a Tucson home located around two miles from Nancy’s house, detaining residents Luke Daley, 37, and his mother, 77.
The pair were reportedly held for hours before ultimately being released without charge.
Speaking for the first time since being detained, Luke Daley opened up in an interview with True Crime Arizona host Briana Whitney on Monday, March 2.
He claimed that he was targeted by law enforcement after people on social media began speculating that he resembled the masked, armed individual caught by the Nest doorbell camera on the night of Nancy disappearance.

“It’s not me. I don’t see the resemblance of it looking like me,” he said in the aforementioned interview.
“Absolutely not. I have nothing to do with this case.”
He continued: “Someone says something and then they just go off of it based on no evidence, no truth.”
The 37-year-old claimed he has no idea who might have abducted Nancy, stating: “I, like everyone else, just want Nancy to come home and be safe.”

When Daley was detained, his attorney, Chris Scileppi, told PEOPLE that he had been the subject of two search warrants issued on February 13, 2026.
“Daley and his mother were both detained by law enforcement while the search warrants were being executed,” Scileppi said in a statement.
“Neither Daley nor his mother were arrested in connection to this case or any other. Daley has no link whatsoever to Nancy Guthrie and has no information related to her kidnapping. Like the entire Tucson community, both Daley and his mother are hopeful that Nancy will be returned to her family unharmed,” the attorney finished.
An FBI reward of $100,000 remains active for any information leading to Nancy’s recovery. The Guthrie family, meanwhile, released a video on February 16 offering a reward as high as $1 million.
Yesterday, March 2, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings were seen visiting the Tucson home where their mother was last seen, laying flowers and viewing a memorial.
