Months before the “most sickening child abuse” allegations surfaced against Meghan Markle’s father, the duchess reportedly sent him a final letter, warning that he would never meet his grandchildren.
The Duchess of Sussex, 45, has faced years of scrutiny over her fractured relationship with Thomas Markle Sr., 82, who is now under investigation over allegations involving child sexual abuse material.
According to The Sun, the investigation followed a discovery by Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., who found boxes containing images and videos – the “most sickening child abuse imaginable” – among his father’s belongings in the Philippines.
Markle Jr. reported the material to the FBI in July, describing his horror at what he had discovered.
“What I saw made me sick to the stomach – all this stuff was just dumped on me,” he told The Sun. “I felt betrayed, angry and disgusted – and realized I had to report him.”
But Markle Sr. has denied the allegations.
“I’m shocked, I’m hurt and I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me. It’s just a bunch of lies,” he told the Daily Mail. “It’s sick. I have no idea why Tom is trying to destroy me with these lies.”
‘Disturbing allegations’
Responding to the revelations in an Oct. 23 statement shared with People, Meghan said she was “deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.”
But in the same statement, the duchess clarified she had been aware of troubling accusations against her father for years.
She said a letter containing allegations had been sent to London’s Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection in 2018.
“That letter was subsequently shared with me,” she said. “It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father, and I was given assurances that these were being investigated.”
Final letter to father
Meghan’s statement came just one day before The Sun revealed details of a letter she had sent her father in December 2025, while he was hospitalized in the Philippines following a leg amputation caused by a blood clot.
According to the outlet, Meghan told her father that she knew he had abused young girls and that authorities were aware of his alleged conduct.
To ensure the message reached her father, Meghan reportedly arranged for hospital staff to deliver the letter to his bedside, where he was filmed accepting it and asked to sign a form confirming receipt.
Father will never meet grandkids
The letter also carried a final message about his grandchildren.
Meghan reportedly told her father he would never meet Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, and that he would never hear from her again.
“I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them,” she wrote.
“I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families,” she added.
