‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ stars and fans express outrage over CBS’ sudden decision

NCIS: Hawai’i has been cancelled.

According to Deadline, the NCIS spinoff will end with the season three finale set to air on May 6. Although it was not a complete shock that CBS decided to end the female-led series, both fans and stars of the show expressed their disappointment with the network’s decision.

Once news broke, Vanessa Lachey, who played Jane Tennant, wrote “Gutted, confused, blindsided,” on her Instagram Stories. “Grateful, confident, beloved fans!”

“Processing this news and still being present with my family. I Love You all!” she continued. “Mahalo Nui Loa,” which translates to “Thank you very much.”

Tori Anderson (FBI Agent Kate Whistler) shared her thoughts on X.

“Having a really hard time processing this one. Thank you to our incredible crew who made every single day feel like I was living a dream. I want to say thank you to all the fans. My heart breaks for you as well. This is a huge loss for representation. Love you all so much.”

Not only was the series the first female-led NCIS, but it meant a lot for those in the the LGBTQ and Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities as it was one of a only a few shows on network television with such representation.

Fans have since taken to X to express their outrage with CBS, creating their own hashtag #SaveNCISHawaii and Change.org petition.

“Caring about their employees, the Hawaiian community, the poc community, the fans, and the LGBTQ+ community? Couldn’t be @CBS. #SaveNCISHawaii”

“We won’t stop fighting for our Ohana”

“honestly, this cancellation hits harder than any other because, not only was ncis hawai’i cancelled after filming had already finished, but cbs didn’t even have the decency to tell the cast and crew before announcing it online. it’s disrespectful and despicable”

Since the season three finale was not meant to be a series finale, it will include a tease for a season that will never air. Deadline reports that thankfully there won’t be any major cliffhangers.

I’m so upset that NCIS: Hawai’i has been canceled! It was one of my favorite shows. If you’re upset by this news, please share this story.
