A New York lawyer whose intimate moment with a colleague went viral is reportedly facing professional consequences after the video sparked widespread online attention.

Nathaniel Cullerton, a 45-year-old partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, was filmed kissing colleague Kelsey Borenswig in New York City’s Central Park after a TikToker approached the pair and jokingly told them to “get a room.”
What initially appeared to be a lighthearted public encounter quickly turned into a scandal after reports emerged that Cullerton is married. Social media users accused him of cheating and drew comparisons to the viral Coldplay kiss cam controversy involving Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot.
Lawyer reportedly placed on leave
According to a July 28 report by the Financial Times, the lawyer has been placed on leave by Wachtell pending an internal investigation.
The report also stated that Cullerton had been preparing to leave the firm for rival law firm Gibson Dunn alongside five other partners, but that move was reportedly scrapped following the viral video.
Comedian Jay Guapo shared the clip with his 3.5 million followers on July 23.
“Get a room. There’s kids watching,” he says in the video while Cullerton and Borenswig are kissing.
After realizing they were being filmed, the pair attempted to shield themselves from the camera.
Cullerton then approached Guapo and told him to “put the phone down,” but the recording continued.
It remains unclear when Cullerton and Borenswig’s relationship began or whether it had been disclosed to the firm’s human resources department.
The two attorneys worked together earlier this year on the legal team representing Sam Altman in litigation against Elon Musk.
A photo taken during the May 2026 proceedings showed Cullerton leaving the federal courthouse in Oakland, California, with Borenswig walking a short distance behind him.
As of publication, both attorneys’ profiles remain active on Wachtell’s website. It has not been publicly reported whether Borenswig has also been placed on leave or is part of any internal investigation.
Comparisons to the Coldplay kiss cam scandal
Many online users compared the incident to the viral Coldplay kiss cam controversy.
During a Coldplay concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the stadium’s kiss cam captured a couple embracing before they quickly attempted to hide their faces.
Frontman Chris Martin joked to the audience, “Oh, what… either they’re having an affair, or they’re very shy.”
The pair were later identified online as Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, whose relationship later became the subject of widespread media attention.
“Coldplay kiss cam energy,” one X user wrote while reacting to Cullerton and Borenswig’s video.
“Didn’t y’all learn from the Coldplay concert scandal not to cheat in public, lmao?” another commented.
Following that controversy, both Byron and Cabot left their positions at tech company Astronomer.
In an interview with The New York Times published in December, Cabot said she had already been privately separated from her husband, while acknowledging she knew Byron was married.
She claimed Byron had told her he was planning to divorce and described the kiss cam incident as a “bad decision” made while under the influence of alcohol.
“That’s the price I chose to pay,” she said, referring to leaving her career.
