Since Lisa Marie Presley’s death, there have been many rumors and speculation about the family being at odds with one another over the inheritance left behind by the late singer.
While the family has been paying no mind to these rumors, it seems their behavior is indicative of just how much tension there is.
The late Lisa Marie Presley’s twin daughters were 14 years old at the time of their mother’s death. Now the twins are celebrating a milestone in their lives without their mother present.
The two girls graduated from middle school on Friday. While their mother of course could not be there, the girls’ grandmother Priscilla Presley made it a priority to attend.
This was amid the reported tension between the grandmother and the rest of the family as they grappled over who would take control of the estate left behind by Presley in the wake of her death.
77-year-old Priscilla Presley however has denied any rifts in the family over the question of control of the estate. She said in a statement, “My family has resolved all confusion as it relates to our plea to the court and request for document interpretation after my daughter Lisa Marie’s untimely passing,” adding, “Although some media identified such a plea as a lawsuit, I want to make clear that there was never any lawsuit filed against my beloved granddaughter.” Lisa Marie Presley passed away earlier this year on January 12, 2023. She was 54 years old.
While they might have reached a decision when it comes to the estate, it seems that the dust has not fully settled between the family. This suspicion was further solidified when Priscilla was in attendance at the graduation ceremony, it was reported that she remained separate from the rest of the family at the event and even left separately.
It was also noted that the twins’ older sister actress Riley Keough was not in attendance at the event as well.
The graduation ceremony was one day after reports came out that Priscilla Presley’s request to be buried alongside Elvis Presley at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee was denied.
Sources said that the request was a ‘non-starter’ and that Priscilla herself backed down from her request without much discussion.
Elvis is currently buried alongside his grandmother Minnie Mae, his father, Vernon Presley. While the crooner’s mother, Gladys Presley, Lisa Marie and her son, Benjamin, who died in 2020, are buried at the Meditation Garden.
