These days, she cherishes time with her family and loves to boast about her grandchildren. Keep reading to know more about her grandson, who spends a lot of time with her.

Rita Moreno holds the high sought after EGOT status. The EGOT status is only achieved by a select few talents every decade. This is when a star has received all four major awards; an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony!

The actress is best known for some majorly stellar performances including Singin’ in the Rain” in 1952 and “West Side Story” in 1961. These days, the actress tends to focus more on her family. She is the doting grandmother of two young men. Moreno married retired cardiologist Leonard Gordon in June 1965. He passed away in 2010 after the couple had been married for 45 years.

Rita later discussed how she might have left the marriage with her “very controlling” late husband. She shared how her daughter was the biggest reason she stayed in the tense relationship. The actress did not want divorce to be an option as she “had no plans to have a life with anybody else.”

Moreno welcomed her only child, her daughter Fernanda Luisa Gordon in September 1967, two years into her marriage. She shared how her daughter “brought with her a light that, through the years, has grown into a perpetual incandescence where I warm myself more and more as the years go by. You could say she is the gift that keeps giving…”

Fernanda’s journey

Fernanda also became a singer and dancer, following in her talented mother’s footsteps. She would sometimes appear in her mother’s stage productions as well. She graduated cum laude from Tufts University, proving herself to also being academically talented. She later earned a Master of Fine Arts in acting from the University of Southern California.

In 2022, Fernanda posted about her mother in which she featured old pictures of them together. She wrote in the caption, “You have always been an amazing mom – and have become a true friend. Grateful to share so many beautiful experiences with you, mí compañera.”

Fernanda married in 1996 to David Tyler Fisher. At the time, he worked as a manager in the telecommunications practice at Andersen Consulting in San Ramon, California. The couple have welcomed two sons, Justin and Cameron, in the duration of their marriage. Their grandmother Rita Moreno, dotes over them unlike any other! In an interview at TIME’s Women of the Year Gala, the grandmother of two said she feels beautiful “when I’m looking into the eyes of my grandboys, and that’s one of them.” As she said this she pointed to Justin who had accompanied her to the event. The 92-year-old was happily accompanied by the young man.

The proud grandmother said, “I’m just I’m so proud of him. I can’t stand myself. This is my boy.” On his part, the grandson also did not miss a beat and said, “Whether you’re 24 years old or 91 years young, it’s always a fun time with Rita.”

How Justin helped grandma

Moreno is the first Hispanic woman to win an Academy Award, and her family, including her grandsons, are incredibly proud of her achievements. In 2023, he accompanied Rita to “80 for Brady” in Los Angeles. On the red carpet, Justin revealed a little-known fact. He said, “It was my idea to get her in ‘Fast and Furious 10.'”

This was after the young man met Vin Diesel for the first time at the premiere of “West Side Story” in 2021. Moreno humorously said she owed her grandson a portion of her paycheck for his suggestion. Justin on his part recounted the entire incident and how it came about.

He shared his encounter with the celebrity, “[Vin and I] caught up and grabbed drinks after the event, and he’s so fond of my grandma. I told him, ‘You should work with her. You should have her be your grandma, have her slap you upside the head. Have her have a little tone, because you know her, it’s all tone.'”

Apart from his grandmother, Justin is also adored by his own mother Fernanda, who posted for his 23rd birthday on Instagram. She wrote in the caption, “Hey @justinfish26! We are thinking of you today on your 23rd birthday and sending hugs and high fives. We love you and are so proud of you. Keep living life to the fullest and enjoying CO.”

Now Justin, a 26-year-old, still makes time for his family, sharing a sweet family picture with the caption, “Poppin off 2024 on a tropical note, sponsored by La Familia y Pacifico.”

The youngest grandson

Justin’s younger brother Cameron is also well-loved in the family. For his 21st birthday in 2021, his mother shared a sweet collage for her son writing in the caption, “Happy 21st Birthday @cfishy1!!! We love you.”
By May 2023, Fernanda proudly announced another milestone—Cameron’s graduation. Sharing a photo of him with Justin and Rita. Very #proudmama today! @cfishy1 graduated from the #BU school of communications with a double major in #film and #mediascience. #bravo Cam.”

Cameron maintains a more private existence than his big brother. It seems that the family is incredibly close and that they love their celebrity grandmother a lot!
