She bakes a cake for mystery new client – when he shows up, he’s the last person she ever expected

Mary Pat Seiss works as a baker at Oakmont Bakery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The bakery has a lot of regulars who come in. But one last year, Mary Pat received an order from a special customer.

A little girl named Kelly was turning six, and Mary Pat was asked to bake a cake for her birthday.

What made the task even more special was that Kelly had suffered from cancer, a disease that Mary Pat knows all too well.

Mary Pat was just six years old when she was diagnosed with leukemia. After two years of treatments, the cancer finally went into remission, but a year later, it was again back.

Two years later, when Mary Pat was 11 years old, she finally got a clean bill of health. Her cancer remained in remission for the next 10 years, until Christmas 2009, when once again, Mary Pat was told that she was suffering from cancer.

The disease simply refused to let go.

Ever since, Mary Pat has been fighting against cancer.

The struggle became more difficult when Mary Pat’s two brothers, who are very close to her, moved away.

“As everyone gets older, they move often, live their own lives. And she’s still at home fighting. It’s diffiuclt for her. It’s very hard to be the only kid left in the house and dealing with an illness like this,” said Mary Pat’s mother.

One of Mary Pat’s brothers started studying in Pittsburgh, while the other, Robert, joined the military and was stationed thousands of miles away in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

“When they called me and told me that she had got diagnosed again… it was probably the hard thing I’ve ever heard. Being thousands of miles away and not being able to do anything but sit there and listen to a phone call,” Mary Pat’s brother Robert said.

One day in the spring of 2016, Mary Pat was a cake for Kelly, the little girl fighting cancer.

One of Mary Pat’s brothers was visiting the bakery, while her other brother, Robert, was hundreds of miles away… or at least that’s what Mary Pat thought.

Suddenly, the bakery door opened—and someone unexpected walked in.

It was Mary Pat’s brother Robert there to pick up the cake for Kelly!

Mary Pat, who was behind the counter waiting on customers, couldn’t believe her eyes.

At last, she got to meet her beloved brother again!
