Susan Lucci is a well-known name in Hollywood. The actress has had a tremendous career in the last few decades. Last year, her husband, Helmut Huber, passed away, and it was a devastating time for her. She had been married to a TV producer since 1969.
He passed away in Long Island, New York, at 84 years old. He is survived not only by his wife, Susan Lucci, his sons, daughters, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his brother. In his career, he was a successful producer, his resume included impressive roles such as CEO of Pine Valley Productions and later on becoming Susan’s manager.
His death was confirmed via a statement that read his praise, “A family man, he was a loyal friend, and loved them deeply. With a roaring sense of humor, larger-than-life personality, and a practical problem-solver, he lived his life to the fullest…”
After his death, Susan became even more aware of heart health. She sat down with the media and talked about heart health for American Heart Month. She also opened up about what it was like to lose her husband.
The cause of heart health has always been important to Susan. She is an ambassador for the American Heart Association, and when Huber passed away, the family requested, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Stroke Association.
In her interview, she talked about how important it is for women to take care of their heart health. When asked how she had been dealing with the loss of her husband, she said, “Well, coping and dealing, those are the right words because it’s awful. He was great…he was the love of my life, and he uhm—he was spectacular and uh, so, coping and dealing, that’s what you do, you put one foot in front of the other…
In another interview, when she was asked whether she was ready to date again, she tearfully replied, “No, I’m not ready. It’s just ten months. And anyway, whatever the time was, I’m not ready…I just miss him…”
A few months after that emotional interview, the actress traveled to Italy. The “All My Children” actress posed for pictures smiling and wearing a flowy summer dress. The picture, however, caused a stir, and some fans had a few questions.
The actress later posted another photo of herself in a colorful dress, and her fans were amused. Some commented on how well she looked. One wrote, “Love your dress! So flattering on you!”
But there were others who were not as kind in their comments. One comment read, “…since Helmut died she’s all over the world enjoying herself really never saw a mourning period…”
But a lot of her fans came to defend the actress, citing that she might be grieving in private and no one could dictate to another person how to grieve. They pointed out that the actress had every right to move on with her life and enjoy it as well.
The actress clearly still thinks of her late husband Huber since she posted a picture of him on what would have been his birthday, with a sweet wish that read, ‘Happy Birthday Handsome.’ She also made a post to honor his birthday about how hard it has been to spend a year without him.
