Travis Kelce responds after Prince William tried to ‘move him out’ of Taylor Swift selfie

Travis Kelce has responded to Prince William’s admission that he tried to push the NFL star out of a selfie with Taylor Swift, suggesting the future king had an ulterior motive.

Prince William, 44, celebrated his birthday in June 2024 with a trip to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, where he brought Prince George and Princess Charlotte for a night that included an unforgettable backstage encounter.

The Royal Family met the superstar backstage, where they posed for selfies alongside her future husband, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, creating a memorable moment that quickly attracted attention around the world.

But nearly two and a half years later, William has admitted that the picture didn’t turn out quite as he had originally intended.

‘Kept coming back in’

During a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the Prince of Wales the Prince of Wales shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes detail about the now-famous photograph.

“I wasn’t until recently. I hadn’t appreciated the significance – and actually, I was trying to move him out of the photo,” William joked.

“But Travis kept coming back in, and I couldn’t work out why he kept coming back in,” he continued. “I was trying to move him out so it was just me and Taylor and the children.”

Kelce responds

Rather than taking offense, Kelce, 37, found the future king’s confession hilarious when the subject came up during the Oct. 28 episode of his New Heights podcast with older brother Jason Kelce.

“I get it, man. I think we all get it,” Kelce said. “I was just a boyfriend at that point. You know? I wasn’t her husband yet.”

Kelce then offered his own explanation for William’s determination to keep him out of the family keepsake.

“We don’t really know if this is going to last, so it’s kind of just ‘move out of the way real quick,’ so we can keep this photo forever. Hopefully, this doesn’t go south. Otherwise, this photo is not going to be as good,” he said.

Jason, 38, agreed that William’s reasoning was “very understandable,” before suggesting that the podcast’s graphics team could simply edit his younger brother out of the original photograph.

Kelce was more than happy to help deliver the revised royal souvenir.

“I have to ship that to him. Just send it to Buckingham Palace. You think it’ll get to him?” he joked.

The photograph carried special significance beyond the royal encounter, as it was the first time Swift had shared a picture of herself with Kelce on Instagram.

Their romance started in 2023 after the NFL star famously tried to get Swift’s attention with a friendship bracelet with his number, ESPN reports.

The couple eventually married in July 2026, and despite the attempted royal photo editing, there are clearly no hard feelings between the two men.

“Shout out to Prince William, man,” Kelce added.
