Donald Trump has made it his thing to lash out against journalists. Now, he’s done it again. After Meet the Press host Kristen Welker said Trump had “mixed results” regarding his political endorsements, the president was furious, calling for her to be punished.
It was during a live segment on a Washington, D.C., news station that Kristen Welker discussed Trump’s record regarding candidates he has endorsed ahead of the midterm elections. Her verdict? “Mixed.”
“Trump is going to loom large over these midterms,” Welker said before Sunday’s Meet the Press. “He, of course, has endorsed a slate of candidates in the primaries. He’s had some mixed results.”
Welker then pointed to one of Trump’s recent successes: his endorsement of interim U.S. Senator Darline Graham, the sister of her late predecessor, Lindsey Graham. Darline Graham went on to win her primary battle.
Still, Donald Trump did not take Welker’s comments lightly. The president quickly aimed at the journalist in a furious social media post, mocking Walker as the “Unpopular ‘Hostess’ of … Meet the Fake Press.”

Moreover, he continued to accuse Welker of “purposeful inaccuracy” and claimed that she would be “reported to the FCC for rebuke or punishment.”
“Kristen Welker, the Unpopular ‘Hostess’ of the once great Meet the Press, now considered Meet the Fake Press, just stated that Donald Trump has ‘mixed results’ on his Endorsements of Candidates, when the recent WINS of Darline Graham and Mike Mazzei, stand at 100% for the U.S. Senate, and 98% for the U.S. House, recently and over the longterm,” Trump wrote.
“How can anyone be allowed to say this, working for freely given Public Airwaves?” he added, claiming that his endorsements had a pretty much perfect success rate.
Trump then lashed out against the media as a whole.
“Unfortunately, she is not the only one. The Radical Left News is going out of their way to harass, demean, and libel anything ‘TRUMP,” he continued.
Called the press a “disgrace to our nation”
The president also defended his support for political candidates, claiming that some “were not even given a shot” before he backed them. He went even further, calling his backing the “strongest Endorsement in the History of Politics.”
The president was also angry over what he described as a lack of coverage surrounding his endorsement of Darline Graham for the Senate seat, once held by her late brother, Lindsey Graham, who passed away in July.
Trump called the press a “Disgrace to our Nation” and urged FCC Chairman Brendan Carr and the commission to take what he described as a “Threat to our Country” very seriously.
