Vanessa Trump has shared an emotional health update, revealing she is “cancer-free” just six months after being diagnosed with an “invasive” breast cancer.
Vanessa Trump, 48, was married to Donald Trump Jr. for 13 years before their 2018 divorce, and the former couple share five children, including their eldest daughter, Kai, 19.
But in April, the former model faced a frightening health crisis when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, a battle she initially kept private while working with doctors on a treatment plan.
And it wasn’t until May 20 that Vanessa publicly revealed her diagnosis: “I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” she shared on Instagram.
The following month brought another update, with Vanessa revealing that she had spent four weeks recovering from surgery and was preparing to move into the second stage of treatment.
‘Finally cancer-free’
While she continued to focus on her recovery, her family remained by her side, and six months after her diagnosis, Vanessa finally had the news they had all been hoping for.
“I am finally cancer-free,” she announced in a clip shared on Kai’s YouTube channel.
Rather than simply celebrating her mother’s recovery, the teen used the occasion to draw attention to breast cancer awareness, sharing the video during a month dedicated to education, early detection and support for those affected by the disease.
“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about early detection, education, and support for those affected by breast cancer,” she wrote on Instagram.
‘Pay attention to your body’
The conversation comes as breast cancer rates among younger women continue to raise concerns, with research showing that diagnoses among women under 50 have been increasing faster than among older age groups.
According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 16% of women diagnosed with breast cancer are under 50, while U.S. screening recommendations now advise women at average risk to start regular mammograms at age 40.
“Early detection is always good,” said Kai – President Donald Trump’s oldest grandchild – while Vanessa urged followers to “pay attention to your body.”
“If your body is tired and your body is sore in different areas, pay attention to it – it might be something or it might not,” Vanessa added.
‘Live your life in the best way possible’
For Vanessa, the announcement brings a welcome milestone after months of treatment, while her decision to share the experience alongside her daughter adds a personal voice to an issue affecting millions of women.
“It’s day to day. When you get an invasive cancer, it is a fear of where is going to show up next and if it is going to show up anymore, but you have to live your life in the best way possible,” she said, adding, “I am very happy that I am cancer free.”
