What Melania is calling Barron behind closed doors is finally revealed

It’s fair to say that Barron Trump experienced a childhood like very few others. The 17-year-old grew up in the White House, after all, at his parents arguably rank amongst the most famous people on the planet.

Barron actually became the first boy to live in the White House since JFK Jr.. Of course, we’ll likely never know whether or not he had access to the Oval Office.

Since leaving the White House, Donald, Melania, and Barron have settled at Mar-a-Lago. Moving forward, though, it seems as though Donald’s youngest child will be moving out.

Ever since Barron was a young boy, his mother, Melania, took charge of raising him and protecting him from media scrutiny. It turns out that early on she started calling Barron by a very particular nickname – and one that the boy’s father would probably be proud of.

After Barron Trump was born, it didn’t take long before his name was known worldwide. Within 20 minutes, Donald Trump had called the media to inform them of Barron’s safe delivery, according to reports.

Barron Trump – Donald Trump told the world about his birth

As reported by several newspapers, within 20 minutes of Barron’s birth, Trump called MSNBC’s long-running radio show “Imus in the Morning,” hosted by Don Imus, to share the great news.

At the same time, a statement on Melania’s website read that Barron weighed in at 8 1/2 pounds and was 21 inches long.

“Everyone’s perfect,” Donald Trump, who was 59 at the time, told Imus.

“I continue to stay young, right? I produce children, I stay young.”

The same day, Trump called Live with Regis and Kelly. Two days previous, Regis and his wife, Joy, had visited Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate. Trump soon left to reunite with Melania in New York to be there for the birth of Barron.

“When I left you, I had no news of this at all,” Trump told Regis, adding that Barron had come over a week early.

Barron was born on March 20, 2006. Donald Trump, meanwhile, was just three months shy of his 60th birthday.

“It’s great! It’s just wonderful!” Trump told The Post hours after Barron’s birth.

“I was just a bit queasy. Being a doctor would not be my thing,” Trump confessed. “But Melania is in such good shape that when the time came, she just handled it perfectly. After the baby came out, I held him in my arms, and it was just an amazing thing. He cried just a little.”

Why was Donald Trump’s son named Barron?

Donald continued: “I was very proud. He is a very healthy baby. It’s really a beautiful thing to see the whole process of birth.”

At the time, he believed it wouldn’t be his last child.

“I doubt it, I think there will be more. I think it’s fantastic to have kids, and I have great children. And I think my son will turn out just as well. I could see him being a great businessman.”

According to the NY Post, Barron is an old English name. It means “young warrior.” However, that wasn’t why Donald and Melania decided on the name.

“I’ve always just liked the name Barron,” he said.

“[His birth] was actually perfect timing because next weekend I am supposed to be doing a Learning Annex lecture out in California, and that would have had to have been changed if the baby had come then.”

Speaking with Parenting, Melania revealed that Barron loved planes and helicopters as a child.

She always made sure to cook his breakfast and prepare his lunches. Even though the family obviously live a very luxurious lifestyle, Melania didn’t want to employ a traditional nanny.

Melania said in a 2015 People interview: “Barron is 9 years old. He needs somebody as a parent there, so I am with him all the time. As you know, my husband is traveling all the time.”

“We keep it down to a minimum,” Trump added. “If you have too much help, you don’t get to know your children.”

Melania Trump was in charge of raising Barron

Melania revealed that Barron was very much into creating things as a young boy, and his mother supported that. Barron was said to even draw on the walls.

“In his space, the décor style of the rest of our home is mixed with what he is into: planes and helicopters,” Melania told Parenting, as quoted by Metro.

“We let him be creative; let his imagination fly and do whatever he wants. Whatever he wants to do with his own room later on, he can do it. Whatever he wants to do with his own room he can do it. He draws on the walls, we can paint it over.”

“When he was smaller, he started drawing on the walls,” she added. “His imagination is growing and important. He draws on the walls in his playroom, we can paint it over. One day he was playing bakery and he wrote ‘Barron’s Bakery’ on the wall with crayons. He is very creative, if you say to a child ‘no, no, no,’ where does the creativity go?”

Needless to say, it was Melania who was closest to Barron growing up. Donald worked plenty – he explained to Larry King in 2005 that he was a fairly hands-off parent.

“I’m not going to be doing the diapers,” Trump said. “I’m not going to be making the food, I may never even see the kids.”

All the same, Barron loved spending time with his dad. When Barron was growing up, Melania ensured that he got quality time with his father, and the two often went out for dinner together. As he grew older, Barron also joined his father on the golf course.

“It’s very important to know the person you’re with. And we know our roles,” Melania explained.

Barron Trump can speak Slovenian

While Barron grew up in the US, Melania raised Barron to be bilingual, and when he calls his grandmother in Slovenia, he reportedly speaks Slovenian.

Both Melania and Donald are said to agree that the more languages one speaks, the better. His father told Larry King that he “loves” that Barron speaks with a Slovenian accent. One can assume these days that the accent is gone since he’s gone to school in the US.

According to Mary Jordan, author of The Art of Her Deal, which focuses on Melania, to this day, Barron speaks Slovenian with his mother. When they lived at the White House, this gave them a special kind of freedom.

“There’s a unit within the family unit, and it’s Melania, her mother, her father, and Barron,” Jordan told CBS News. “And they all speak Slovenian.”

Put more simply, none of the Secret Service agents could understand what they were saying. That said, Jordan did add that Donald isn’t always happy about them speaking in another language, as he never learned Slovenian himself.

“He has said it annoys him sometimes ’cause he has no idea what they’re saying,'” Jordan explained.

Barron attended the prestigious Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City, a two-century-old, non-secular private school.

Barron Trump was given a special nickname by Melania

When finished with school in “The Big Apple,” Barron and Melania headed for the White House. As mentioned, Barron became the first boy to live in the White House since JFK Jr.

Barack Obama, George Bush Jr., and Bill Clinton – the three most recent presidents – have been fathers to only girls. Other presidents since JFK have had sons, though they’ve all been adults and therefore not lived at the White House with their parents.

Now, it makes sense to assume we all pick up certain traits or quirks from our parents as children. Some us can be remarkably similar in appearance or character, and according to Melania, Barron is every bit his father’s son.

In fact, she even decided to give him a very special nickname because of how much like Donald he is.

“He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants,” Melania told Parenting. “He is a mixture of us in looks, but his personality is why I call him ‘Little Donald.'”

The former First Lady continued: “He likes the way he talks, the way he is. They have beautiful respect and admiration for each other.”

When Barron moved into the White House, he also became the first presidential child to attend St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland. Every other president’s child over the last 35 years has attended Sidwell Friends.

How Barron Trump is protected from the media

During Donald’s presidency, Barron wasn’t seen that often in the media, only occasionally spotted traveling with his parents, boarding and leaving Air Force One or his father’s helicopter.

Throughout their time in the White House, Melania made it very clear that she was keen on protecting her son from scrutiny, especially since being the president’s son can be a demanding role. That has continued today, with the Trump family living at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

In March, Donald was indicted by a New York court. Since then, three more indictments against him have followed. Moreover, the former president’s mugshot went viral after he was booked and fingerprinted at a Georgia jailhouse for charges of election fraud.

Melania has not been seen at her husband’s side in the courtroom or on the campaign trail. According to a source close to the firmer first lady, that’s because she wants to shield not only herself, but also Barron.

“Melania is good at taking care of business at hand, which includes her own life, the life of her son, and the lives of her close family members,” the source told People

“She would not stand in a circle of people she knows and openly comment on the lawsuits or the mug shot. She will have her way of dealing with this and anything else publicly when she feels like it,” the source added. “Remember, Melania is a mom with a not-yet-adult son to protect. A mug shot that everyone is talking about is just one more issue to wade through.”
