Woman claims she was photobombed by haunting intruder

A single mom was terrified after seeing the wall surrounding the seemingly tranquil body of water that she picnicked near got too handsy with her family and friends.

The Manchester mother claims she was photobombed by a terrifying intruder, that reached out from the wall behind where she stood for an image that was meant to capture her lovely day with her group of loved ones at Dovestone Reservoir.

Keep reading to learn more about the chilling discovery that left this woman “shuddering” and “terrified.”

Rhynnice Trelfa, now in her mid 30s, claims to have captured a chilling moment during a picnic with friends and family at Dovestone Reservoir back in 2011.

The picturesque Dovestone Reservoir is a nature reserve with picnic areas to relax after hiking through the woodlands area that features peaks and valleys.

Trelfa, whose group included her father and former partner, posed for a photo on the walking trail of the Greenfield reservoir, which collects water from the surrounding moorland.

The image shows the group of six leaning up against the wall, with the murky waters of the reservoir rippling softly behind.

The eerie image

In 2018, reminiscing about that day at Dovestone, and remembering her friend – also pictured – who died after, Trelfa looked at the photo again.

Upon closer inspection, Trelfa, an accountant from Bury, noticed what appears to be a dismembered hand creeping over the wall behind her and the group in the photograph.

Hair can also be seen behind her partner’s right shoulder.

“When I first discovered the abnormal hand I knew immediately that it was an unexplainable phenomenon,” Trelfa told the Daily Mail. “A shuddery feeling went all over my body, I started to cry, I had a lump in my throat, goosebumps. I was terrified.”

Intrigued and unsettled by the handsy phenomenon, she took to social media, hoping to get some opinions on the spectral hand.

Many online users questioned the authenticity of the photo and suggested another person is hiding behind them with only their hand and some hair visible.

Maintaining that no-one else was around them at the time, Trelfa said, “I know absolutely that nobody was behind us. Also, another photo that was taken only seconds afterwards shows no sign of the hand.”

Her post of the creepy image also captured the interest of paranormal investigators who suggested the hand may belong to a deceased family member of her former partner, who is standing in front of it.

“After I uploaded it online I was messaged by a few mediums who said it belonged to a female with a sort of connection to my child’s father,” Trelfa said.

“The question I have to ask: Is it a message from the other side? My belief is that the soul in the photo is somehow linked with us,” she said, adding she believes the hand is pointing towards the man in the middle of the group, who tragically died a few years after this photo was snapped.

Dark and deadly past

Continuing her search for answers, Trelfa learned that Dovestones Reservoir has a dark and deadly history.

In 1949, a plane heading for Ringway Airport (now Manchester Airport), crashed into a ravine, killing 21 passengers and three crew members. Then, in the early 1960s, before the reservoir was operating, a couple – Ian Brady and Myra Hindley – murdered several children and buried them in the surrounding moors. And in February 1990, melting ice and heavy rainfall caused a “raging torrent,” killing a teenager who was sucked into a tunnel after losing his footing while hiking with his class.

In recent years, numerous bodies were pulled from the water, including 28-year-old Craig Wilcox in 2014, and David Lytton, 67, who in 2015 was found dead on a hillside nearby.

“My father and I found there had been a long list of tragic incidents that have happened at the reservoir.” Then suggesting the hand appeared years after the photo was taken, she adds “The most recent of these blew my mind. On the same day I posted the photo, a woman’s body was found in the same part of the reservoir.”

“It’s very exciting to have captured something like this. I have always been a bit of a believer, but I hadn’t really experienced anything as solid as this.”

Trelfa’s pursuit of answers underscores the haunting nature of the photograph, leaving both her and those who view the image pondering the mysteries that may lie within the seemingly ordinary snapshot. Was this all a hoax? Was there a ghost that she hadn’t initially noticed when the photo was taken, or did the unexplained phenomenon materialize years later?
